FUNDRAISER RAFFLE

On the 2nd of July (the day after her 40th birthday) my little sister Tessa was diagnosed with breast cancer. Tessa started her first 12 week round of chemo on the 4th of August. This will be followed by another 12 week round of chemo, then surgery, possible radiation, then followed by 5 years of hormone therapy.

Tessa has recently moved in with her partner after receiving her diagnosis. Because of this she is unlikely to be able to get any financial assistance to help support her and her 5 year old son River should she need to stop working. This first round of chemo has already knocked her energy levels for six which has her very anxious and worried about her ability to continue working.

So this is where we come in – I want to help relieve some of that pressure for my sister and have decided to donate some of my artworks to help raise some funds.

100% of the funds raised will go towards helping the whanau out during this difficult time.

So here are the important details:

To be won:
1st prize - As pictured the ORIGINAL framed artwork “Duality 3:Stag” valued at $950 – if the winner lives outside of Canterbury they will be responsible for paying for postage.
2nd prize – 1 of my unframed limited edition A4 giclee prints valued at $100 – winner picks which one they would like.
3rd prize – 2 of my unframed open edition A5 black and white prints valued at $20each – winner picks which two they would like.

On the 25th - 27th of August 2023 more than 70 Arts Canterbury members will be exhibiting at the second Arts Canterbury Art Show at The Cashmere Club, 50 Colombo Street, Cashmere, Christchurch.

At the opening night you can enjoy a complimentary drink, nibbles and music while enjoying all of the art and mingling with the artists.

This cabbage tree sits in a paddock across the road from me. I often walk past it, and recently I was inspired to digitally re-create it, adding in a bit of colour to pull out its character.

My Queenstown Beach painting sold at the opening night to a lovely couple I enjoyed meeting and chatting with.

The Christchurch Art Show opening night was busy. I had a lot of fun helping look after the Arts Canterbury panels. The Art Show is open again Saturday 10 to 8pm and Sunday 10 to 5pm. Which do you like best? a - Old Shotover Bridge or b - Queenstown Beach? Both will be at The Christchurch Art Show 17 to 19 March with the Arts Canterbury display. Only one will be displayed at a time. So I need your help please to decide which one to display first.

With a theme prompt of “Water” Arts Canterbury members were invited to submit artworks for this exhibition. Twenty six pieces were selected to bring “Water” to you in some unexpected ways. From a swamp to a bathtub; a surfing penguin, “That Wanaka Tree” and more - the Arts Canterbury “Water” exhibition showcases an eclectic mixture of artworks in varying styles and mediums. There will be something to appeal to everyone.

Hosted by Art on the Quay at the Ruataniwha Civic Centre in Kaiapoi, come along to see how each artist has interpreted the theme.

Exhibition opens Thursday 16th Feb from 5:30pm, and runs until the 22nd March.

My artistic interpretation of the nearby forest I enjoy walking through, featuring the New Zealand native Toi Toi plant.
