Mornington AFC
Mornington AFC established in 1888 is a football club based in the hill suburbs of Dunedin.
Ngā taniwha played a great game against Grants Braes this week. An unfortunate 1-0 loss with the goal being scored when Tessa was taken out in a jarring tackle that left her with a fractured knee. A lesson to all that you should definitely put the ball out when there’s a serious injury. Anyway, a really even game with an unlucky goal. Well done girls.
The over 45 men got busy winning a 1-0 game against Roslyn. Well done boys. The support crew enjoyed watching!
A 2-0 loss for nga taniwha against Roslyn- a much better result than last time! Everyone gave everything
A 1-0 loss for the over 45s with one unfortunate goal in the first half. Well played by everyone.
Sorry a bit slack on photos, too busy supporting, but the over 45 men had a fabulous game against Mosgiel, coming away with a 4-1 win with goals from Bevin, Nat and John (I hope I got that right). Of course much boosted by their loud and energetic supporters!(thanks girls)
Sorry didn’t post last week. We played a university team with a 4-0 loss. Great game by all involved. Welcome to Jessie.
A 6-0 loss to balclutha, top of the table today. Oh so cold and sunny. A tough first half into the sun but a lovely second half half where things went better. Bella Wadsworth (aka Wadsy, I’ve seen your named shirt Bella) played her wee heart out in centre back for player of the day but everyone played amazing. Lovely to have Hannah and Jade back from their travels and we farewell James Te Moanaroa as he heads off to the islands.
A bit of the game
A great game for nga taniwha last Saturday. We came up against Mosgiel AFC at a very boggy Mornington pitch. A 0-1 loss but a really close match.
A beauty of a day, lovely and warm. The over 45 team had a great game vs grants Breese at Mornington. And nga taniwha had a fun game against the ever so young (15-17) royals leopards team at Tonga park.
Another game down vs green island. We play the other green island team next week!
Not a win sadly but thanks to Jade and Magdelena for helping out and Bevan for reffing.
Nga taniwha had a fun game against the Roslyn Wakari Shetlands. A 5-1 loss, but … we scored a goal (thanks Chloe) which scored Chloe player of the day!
Great to have a few supporters with some old faces turning up, Charlotte who is an “old girl” and Barry, our first coach.
Next weekend we have a home game against Green Island Gold
A game against the royals at Mornington today. A pretty big defeat unfortunately however there was lots of improvement in the second half. Lessons learned I guess.
Player of the day - Orla K who covered lots of ground in the back line!
Ko wai matou - nga taniwha!!
Sorry no pics, too busy playing football!!
Unfortunately our Nga Taniwha came away with an 8-0 loss against Balclutha but they put up a good challenge!
We look forward to our home game next week against Royals
