Dragon Blood Flood

Dark rum, pink dragon fruit, pineapple juice, lemon juice and garnished with mint.

When it comes to climate we can see warnings all over the world of what can happen if we don't look after our environment here at home in Aotearoa. Deforestation in South America provides a perfect example of what can go terribly wrong. Deforestation leads to land erosion which ends up in destructive landslides and flooding. Our Cocktail Dragon Blood Flood is a warning of the massive damage we can cause by messing with the natural climate here in New Zealand.
Pink dragon fruit is also known as pitaya and is a cactus of the genus Hylocereus, native to South America.
This species is perennial (it flowers and produces seeds more than once in its life) and epiphytic (it lives on another plant, without feeding at its expense), demonstrating the beauty and wisdom of botany and its relationship with its ecosystem.
