Hypnotherapy is a simple, down-to-earth and common-sense therapy that can enable you to progressively improve your habitual feelings and behaviour. It involves using a combination of techniques designed to minimize distractions, enhance concentration, and strengthen responsiveness to suggestions to do this. Hypnosis is a natural state of mind that allows your mind and body to relax enabling access to your subconscious mind which is more open to accepting positive life-changing suggestions. It's important to know that although you're more open to suggestion during hypnosis, you’re always in control. It's your mind and your body. The feeling of being in hypnosis is not actually ‘sleep’ – people are aware of everything that is going on around them – but it has been likened to the feeling of daydreaming when you are absorbed in your imagination and an idea. MY STORY
I started Shift because of my own experience and success with hypnotherapy. In 2019 I had a virtual gastric band “fitted” around my stomach through hypnosis, with the amazing Lyn Davis. I’d struggled with my weight all my life, was addicted to food, and felt like I’d tried everything – diets, exercise, fads – none of it had worked. In 6 months, I lost 23kg, dropped four dress sizes, and am now the fittest and strongest I have ever been! Not only that, but it completely flipped my mindset and changed my perspective – it changed my life. It was one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself. I’d describe being hypnotized as feeling really, really deeply relaxed and ‘dreamy.’ You’re always in control and you don’t ‘go into a trance’ or aren’t ‘out for the count’ or anything like that – I could still hear everything going on around me and it was like I was just having a lovely big relax in the chair, while focusing in on the Hypnotherapist’s voice and repeating what she was saying to myself. I really wanted it to work, and I believed in Lyn’s talent, fully trusting the process. Because I had such an amazing experience with hypnotherapy, I want everyone to have the chance to experience it and help them to achieve the same results! So, in February of this year (2022), I sold my HR business (after 15 years of being in HR) to focus on Hypnotherapy and getting Shift up and running – quite the career change!
