As we head into winter season a.k.a long distance season - we want to take the time to acknowledge all the people behind the scenes who help all our paddlers get to where they are - our coaches, managers, partners, families, friends & everyone who continues to support us! Also want to acknowledge and send out a massive congratulations to all our paddlers in the club who have been doing the hard yards, putting in the work and performing amazingly on the water! Proud ๐ฏ

Once again, congratulations to all our teams who have qualified to compete at the IVF Vaโa World Sprint Championships in Hawaii in August later this year! J16 men - Taurea, J19 women - Hawaiki & Poerava, and Open women - Tavake who will be representing not only the club & our Auckland region but themselves and their families aswell! Itโs been a while since our last post but hereโs what the clubโs been up to the first 6 months of 2023 ๐ค
January: Sprint nats at lake Karapiro! The club finished 2nd on the medal tally after a long week of intense racing ๐ฅ
February: Takapuna beach cup was cancelled but the club did a โfunโ run with some of the Tahitians that came over - team talifit and a few other paddlers from around the motu ๐
March: training, training, and more training
April: Long distance nats in Whitianga ๐
May: Whaingaroa Hoe, George Pomana memorial race & HnF racing
June: Rotohoe, Hard n Fast and more training ๐ฏ
Congratulations to Manutea, Tere, Simon and Abigail for making the NZ elite teams going over to Samoa for the IVF world distance championships ๐คฉ

The annual Canoe Racing New Zealand Sports & Recognition awards is nearly upon us and we have nominated a number of our club athletes and volunteers for awards again this year! we are profiling all our nominees to recognise their achievements and contributions to the sport regardless of whether they ultimately receive an award or not.

Kingi has been paddling for the last 3 years in sprint canoeing.
Kingi has been nominated by North Shore Canoe Club for the CRNZ Masters Athlete of the Year award.
