Our Year 8 students are heading off to Shakespear Lodge in Whangaparaōa for their camp this term and are holding a fundraising event at the RAZZA Kitchen Waipu on the 21st of August to raise funds to go towards lowering the cost of this opportunity. These are always super fun events.

The line of Severe Thunderstorms of concern have now moved off the coast and the Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been lifted.

However, a Strong Wind Watch is in place for Northland south of Kaikohe from 12 pm today until 3 am tomorrow, 30 May. So, we are still likely to see some strong winds and some patches of heavy rain overnight tonight.

Please take extra care if you are driving around the region this afternoon and evening, and if haven’t already, make sure all items around your property are secure from high winds overnight – nobody likes having to get up in the middle of the night to secure the outdoor furniture.

MetService New Zealand have issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for the southern parts of the Whangārei and Kaipara districts from 10.15am today.

This line of severe thunderstorms is moving towards the northeast and is expected to lie from PAPAROA to the southern end of our region at 10:45 am, heading towards the HEN AND CHICKEN ISLANDS going past Waipu and Mangawhai by 11:15 am. These thunderstorms are expected to be accompanied by damaging wind gusts.

These gusts can break branches from trees, damage roofing, cause power outages, and make driving hazardous, especially for high-sided vehicles and motorcycles.

So, please take extra care if you are driving around this area, and if you can, make sure all items around your property are secure from high winds.
