It looks as though some changes are again coming to the Unitary Plan.
The Unitary Plan guides the use of Auckland's natural and physical resources, including land development, by determining:
- what can be built and where
- how to create a higher quality and more compact Auckland

Dave Letele of Brown Buttabean is once again showing what a great guy he is!
ANNOUNCEMENT 📣📣
It’s been an up and down kind of week. Doors have closed, others have opened. So, some exciting news from me that I wanted to share today.
As you know I'm a bit of an open book. I like to tell my story in the hope that it will inspire others - and I feel privileged when others share their stories with me. Some of these stories are tough to hear to be honest, some of them affect me a lot - more than I let on - but I think there’s never been a more important time to share them.
I want to shine a light on experiences of those within our community. These are stories that might otherwise not be told. It’s really important to me that all voices are heard.
Whilst the last few weeks have been hectic, in the background I've had an awesome team working away helping to get a new project off the ground. It’s been a humbling experience.
"Heavyweight with Dave Letele" is coming to TVNZ later this year.
Huge mihi to NZ on Air for supporting our first episode.
I'm pumped.
Watch this space!
If we can help with your building project, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Great inspiration from Dave at Brown Buttabean.
Everyone is on their own journey!
One of the problems of doing renovation projects yourself is you don't have the tools required, and unfortunately, they can be expensive to buy.
Mitre 10 New Zealand have produced some great video clips on some of the more common tools that are used by the home renovator.
The clip below is about the Drill and Impact Driver.

Backyard projects on a budget Sometimes it’s the little improvements that can make a huge difference. And the good thing about the little improvements is that they don’t have to cost a lot to do. Here are some projects that’ll give you some instant wow-factor, with out the wow-price.
It was our pleasure to help Brown Buttabean by installing security bars on some of their windows after their recent break-in.
They do such an amazing job out there in the community. ♥
What do you think about the new Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown?
Auckland's new mayor Wayne Brown wants 'team' of councillors The former Far North District Council mayor won with a total of 181,810 votes, ahead of Efeso Collins by 57,008.
When Alex and Brendon walked into their 70s home for the first time, they immediately saw charm and potential – even though the property had some quirks.
When the couple bought their pink three-storey brick ‘n’ tile home in 2014, they looked past the dated interior of funky wallpapered rooms and textured ceilings and saw many opportunities. “We looked at each other and said, ‘we’re going to buy this home’.” Eight years later, they have renovated it head to toe using Resene paints to make it completely their own, forever home.
Find out what they did below.

Some of Auckland’s planning rules have changed to enable greater housing density in the Auckland's urban areas.
For many property owners, this means you are now allowed to build up to three homes of up to three storeys on your residential site, such as townhouses and terrace housing, provided you comply with all other development rules and standards before construction begins.
Central government’s new density rules, the Medium Density Residential Standards (MDRS), also include allowing greater building height in relation to boundary and increasing building coverage on sites, enabling (but not requiring) more homes to be built.

Consents for new homes remain at historic highs, but the peak of the construction boom is fast approaching, if it’s not already here, an economist says.
There were 50,736 new homes consented in the year ended June, up 14% from the same time last year, Stats NZ’s latest figures show.
It was the fourth consecutive month in which the annual number of new homes consented surpassed 50,000, but the June figure was below last month’s record of 51,015 homes.
