SITUATIONS VACANT | AVOCA GROUP - QUARRY MANAGERS X 2
- Rarewa, Whangarei

The Avoca Group has an 80-year history as a proud family operated business, with a reputation for technical expertise in the field of lime and customised fertiliser blends and applications.
Core role accountabilities include production planning and delivery performance, machinery and yard maintenance planning, effective HS&E practices on site, and ongoing training and development for a small team of quarry staff.
Ideally you will have at least 3 years proven experience in a supervisory or management role – preferably within the extractives sector (mining, quarrying) or related industry A or B Grade Quarry Certification (or partially completed) is preferred.

2024 AWARDS | BR WEBSTER FAMILY EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP
Bruce Webster was a founding member of the IOQ in New Zealand. The Scholarship in his memory is to be awarded to individuals who are studying towards qualifications in order to advance their tertiary study or practical learning and is designed to advance the management capability within the quarrying sector.
The Scholarship includes all course fees, travel, accommodation and incidental expenses up to $3,000 per annum, up to a maximum of three years.
Scholarship recipients must be an IOQ member for a minimum of 12 months prior to applying for the scholarship.

2024 AWARDS | LYN JORDAN MEMORIAL TROPHY
This award is for the "Best Technical Paper" given at an Institute Branch Meeting or the Quarry NZ Annual Conference.
The award is in memory of the late Lyn Jordan who was an early member of the IOQ NZ Inc and is in the form of a vintage exploder donated by the Explosives Division of ICI NZ Ltd (now Orica).

2024AWARDS | KOMATSU LEADERSHIP AWARD
The Komatsu Leadership Award is presented to an Institute member who has achieved 10 or more years membership, holds a management position within the quarrying industry and has made a valued contribution to the Institute.
This prestigious award is presented every two years and includes an overseas trip.
The nominee must provide written evidence of their valued contribution to the Institute and the quarrying industry over the previous two years.

2024 AWARDS | R D HASSED AWARD
The R D Hassed trophy is awarded annually to a New Zealand member of the Institute who has made the most outstanding contribution to the Branch during the current year.

The TerraCat Award is a $3,500 travel grant, towards the cost of travel within New Zealand or Australia for the operator that has consistently shown the most dedication and commitment to the quarrying industry.

A reminder the IOQ NZ is offering two one day workshops in both the North and South Island in April 2024 on Emergency Management and Safety Management Systems.
These workshops will be held in Palmerston North, Ashburton and Invercargill offering a total of 8 hours CPD.
