Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Te Atihaunui-ā-Pāpārangi, kua tae te wā!
Ko Te Rangataioho ngā Kaitito o te haka nei.
Te Rangataioho is the composer of this haka.
Ko te whakaweti te kaupapa o te haka nei. Ko ngā wāhanga mātahi o te haka nei e whakaputa i tō mātou riri, pōuri me te whakamārama i ngā mahi kino i pā mai ki a mātou. "Whakaiti taku ahurea Māoritanga"
The theme of this haka is intimidation. Initially, the main objective for us is to have an opportunity to express our anger and sadness regarding the issues we have faced. “Belittling our Māori culture.”
The last part of our haka is about likening ourselves to the Gods. For example; “Tama-nui-te-rā commands our thinking,” he reminds us to think positive thoughts. “Rongo-mā-Tāne commands our spirit,” There, there “Here’s the way, follow the way.”
Ko te wāhanga whakamutunga e kī atu, me pēnei tō wairua, tō mauri kia kau tye pōuri e ngau i a koe. Ko ngā wāhanga tīmatanga, he whakaputra riri, ko te wāhanga tuamutu, he momo rongoā kia kaua e noho ki te pō.Nā Te Matau Rainford ēnei whakamāramatanga
The last section is saying, set your spirit and life force to this way therefore darkness won’t linger. The beginning section is about expressing our anger and then to conclude the ending is providing a solution so we don’t sit in darkness. The explanations were supplied by Te Matau Rainford.
Ngā mihi i tō urutanga mai ki tēnei kaupapa!
