To celebrate International Women's Day, we're sharing an interview that GHC Trainee Representative Dr. Dominic John-Pillai did with Dr. Cecilia Vaai-Bartley in 2021.

Dr. Vaai-Bartley is an anaesthetic trainee from Samoa, currently completing her Masters in Medicine & Clinical Anaesthesia through Fiji National University. In 2020, she was the recipient of the first PACT education grant which has helped to financially support her through her training. In this interview, Dr. Vaai-Bartley shares her journey into anaesthesia and highlights areas of personal growth. She also speaks about the current staff shortages faced by the anaesthesia workforce in the Pacific and the challenges this presents to our Pacific colleagues.
