Raising Scientific Literacy in NZ: An Opportunity for NZ Companies to Make a Difference 07/09/2021

Great to have such supportive sponsors! IZON Science gets it. If we are going to inspire the next generation to want to go after careers in science we need to capture their imagination when they are young! Not only has IZON Science supported us through the sponsorship of the "Measurement Matters" kit, they have also written this fantastic article to inspire other science businesses to join them in supporting us. Special thanks to Hans Van Der Voorn, CEO at IZON Science for your support and Michele Trott for writing such a supportive article!

Did you know... kids (and adults) love to learn about bones. One fact you won't read about in the kids books is that your bones are wet! Eeewww

Other, more well know, facts about bones:
The adult human body has 206 of them.
There are 26 bones in the human foot.
The human hand, including the wrist, contains 54 bones.
The femur, or thighbone, is the longest and strongest bone of the human skeleton.
The stapes, in the middle ear, is the smallest and lightest bone of the human skeleton.

🤔😬

Shocking stat of the day: only 20% of year 8 students are achieving at curriculum expectation for science. (NMMSA)
The problem: lack of resources and low teacher confidence.
The solution: House of Science resources and teacher support.
Proven to increase teacher confidence and lift student achievement for 7 years.
