Howdy beautiful people!
It's just too darned busy in the winter now to produce the NZAD. There is a chance that a single, large issue could be produced during summer months (to be published April/May) if enough interest is shown. If we get 100 LIKES of this post we will definitely go for it, if not...well, we might not. Tell your friends.

Geez, how many ski patrollers does NZSki think they can fit under the bus anyways? Absolutely disgraceful defense.
'Over-zealous' CPR might have killed skier who hit skifield fence post Anita Graf was an expert skier and former instructor who was 'having a good time' on the last day of early morning runs for the season.
This could have big implications for the NZ ski industry especially some of the larger commercial ski fields that have lots of artificial permanent infrastructure. Interesting rebuttal strategy by Paul Anderson.
WorkSafe: NZSki failed to manage risk in death of Anita Graf The WorkSafe investigator assigned to a Coronet Peak death in 2019 says that NZSki did not conduct adequate risk assessments, contributing to the death of experienced local skier Anita Graf…
Hello Everyone,
As summer draws to a close and autumn breezes tickle our winter fancies we have an announcement to make: The NZAD is going on sabbatical for the 2023 season. It takes a lot of time and energy to produce each issue and it's simply time to take a break. We will still be sharing digital content on social media and we will also be deploying a new website, so don't fret too much. We think this time away will allow for new ideas to flourish and grow. Thanks for the support so far and watch this space for continuing developments!
Huge marketing assist for Cardronas newest lift and terrain! Only question is: Will Val Kilmer make a camio?

Howdy Powwy People!
We've been making some soul turns in the hills of late and neglecting our publishing responsibilities. We're not feeling too guilty about that actually. Have you been out and about skiing and riding this winter? Send us some photos! ([email protected]) We'd love to see where you have been and we might even share them in the upcoming September issue (due out mid-September-ish). Work continues on the new NZAD website (due out Spring 2022-ish) and a couple of other new things to be announced later-ish. Be safe and keep having fun!

Hello Everyone!
What a storm it has been! Right now snow safety and ski patrol professionals all over Aotearoa are working hard to get access roads, ski hills and highways (see photo) open and safe for the public. Be mindful of their safety and yours and be nice to them too. It's early days, winter is long, and nobody needs to get hurt or killed. Before you head out make sure you read the NZ avalanche advisory for your area and always practice safe backcountry etiquette when you head out into the hills. Only a few more days until the June 2022 NZAD issue drops! Watch this space.
Howdy Powwy People!
We are putting the final touches on the June issue of the NZAD that will be officially available for a FREE download on ISSUU in the next couple of weeks! Kia Ora Everyone,
Great news! There will be an ARM Level 5 offered this winter on the North Island! Here are the details from Peter Bilous at the Otago Polytechnic:
This programme provides the first level of professional training available in this field, enabling participants to work in all sectors of the avalanche industry. Taught by the most experienced provider of avalanche education in New Zealand, you’ll study theory online for 10 weeks (approx. 20-30 hrs /week) before solidifying these concepts in a supportive group setting during the on-snow/classroom sessions that are part of your one-week block course. Although block courses are usually run in Wanaka, this year we are offering a 'residential' course at Whakapapa ski field, utilising on-mountain lodge accommodation/meals package to maximise learning opportunities. Tuition is $2678 plus $750 for 7 nights' accommodation, breaky and dinner included. Course Starts 18 July, 2022 with limited enrolments.
