I love taking inspiration from sentimental items - and then creating a design which reflects it and encompasses what that item means.

Yesterday , I asked Darren to pick something in our home that I could create a design from.

He chose this stunning candle holder which my grandmother in Hungary gifted me - it was made not far from the little Hungarian town I am originally from.

The design I created features the stunning called BOTANICA NIGHT SKY which is a 600 X 1200 tile. It resembles similar detailing as the candle holder pattern , which was hand etched into the holder using a stone.

I paired the tile with microcement walls and ceiling which reflects the lime washed walls and ceilings in traditional Hungarian homes.

The curved wall of the shower brings in softness to the space , while also creating a feature that our eyes are drawn to.

I placed reeded glass over the top of the tiles behind the mirrors to bring in a glossy texture to the space , whilst the beautiful detailing of the tiles still being visible. The reeded glass works together in harmony with the lines of the paneling on the vanity.

What do you think of Hexagon mirrors? I personally love them and can’t wait to see them being used on more projects 🤩

Recessing a mirror cabinet not only adds sleekness to your bathroom , but it also creates the feeling of space within the room . We love to hide a PowerPoint inside of the mirror cabinet so that your electric tooth brush is nice and hidden instead of taking up room on top of your vanity. We need alllllll the bench space and storage we can get 💄 🎨✨

The mirror cabinet in the photo is a Dante Plus Deep mirror cabinet - our client loved the extra depth 🙌

2023 came with huge changes for us , the biggest finally moving our wee business down to Wānaka after dreaming of living here for over 10 years.

We have been so humbled by the warm welcome we have had into the community , and we look forward to being able to help people bring their dream renovations to life virtually then in reality.

We will be working through the Christmas break , though I will be taking some time to show my parents around (who will be visiting for a couple of weeks) the beautiful place we now are lucky enough to call home.

Almost 9 years ago , Darren and I wanted to name our new little business something with a European touch . We have traveled across Italy and it’s one of our favourite places to visit in Europe ( other than Hungary of coarse) .

We started researching words and their meanings , and I came across Prima.

“First”

“Leading”

It conveys a sense of being the foremost or top choice , and being industry leaders.

We had big dreams for our little business right from the get go , and the name has always been there as a reminder to keep broadening our knowledge , to keep an open mind and to keep improving every single year that passes.

Black walls can be scary. Understandably.

It’s a bold colour.

Especially when you are struggling to visualise how it will all come together in the end.

I had included the Surround by Laminex NZ Batten 25 paneling in the design for a feature wall in the dining space , and made the recommendation to paint it Dulux New Zealand Blackwood Bay.

To help my clients visualise how the black textured feature wall will work against the existing rammed earth wall - I provided them with a realistic render.

I was even able to include the Kina Pendant light by David Trubridge 👌

Cannot wait to see the end result of the renovation!

Renovation being completed by Down to Earth Building ✨

I took this Virtual to Reality comparison from a completed renovation project along to our BNI Wānaka meeting this morning - to show why being able to view a project virtually before committing to product , tile and colour selections can be so helpful 👌

Trying to piece together an image of what the end result will be on a renovation project can be really hard for clients , and when they are spending a lot of money , it can be incredibly daunting too.😱

This is where our tag line “your renovation finished exactly as you pictured it” comes from.

So many beautiful products on display at and I got to have a good look at them all at their VIP evening last night. Thank you so much for having me ☺️

It was great to chat with a variety of supplier reps , seeing new products , and catching up with old colleagues from when I too was a supplier rep.

One product that stood out for me was the DesignFlex shower hose.

This is something that we are really passionate about within our own business as we understand how much plastic packaging etc. goes into skip bins on building sites.

Being able to change and adapt is a huge part of creating not only a success business , but also a business that plays a part in helping to reduce environmental impacts 🍃

Rammed earth renovation colour selections - this project was most definitely right down my alley 😍

The textures and colours were a ton of fun to bring together , my clients had already chosen the timber flooring , kitchen cabinetry finishes and benchtop/Splashback finishes. So , I worked together with their selections to create a colour scheme which works together in harmony and reflects the beautiful characteristics of the Rammed Earth.
