We are on the hunt for a qualified builder to join us on an exciting project on the Crown Terrace. A high-end architectural build, with stunning views and an epic crew. Role begins mid-September.

Give Richie a bell on 0275914550 or email through your application to [email protected]

When a house fire hit this Lismore home, we had the opportunity to turn a really crappy sitch into a beautiful rebuild and renovation. Our role was to recraft this home from the basement up, replicating the original design with a wee facelift along the way. We extended the front of the build slightly to make the living space bigger, built a new floating deck around the house, and installed new, up-to-spec insulation and double-glazed windows. Same same, but different. Here's a quick peek at what it looked like before.

It is what it says on the tin. Unless you're talking to Richie, in which case we're also epic at squash.

Minimalists and OCDers of the world, this one's for you. An incredibly aesthetic build inside and out, this little number was inspired by big Scandinavian dreams. Featuring vertical cedar weatherboard, polished concrete floors, American oak cabinetry and a steep roof pitch, this build was a real treat to put together for everyone involved.

Come along this Friday for a mid-build walk-through of this Lake Hāwea project using Formance SIPs panels. In stage one of a two-stage project, we worked tools to nail to build a garage with a residential loft above. In stage two, this will eventually be connected with the main house.

This was quite the architectural build, and we were chuffed to be working with Sam Brown from Arête Architects Ltd. And, of course, a huge cheers to Formance (from us and the planet) for their SIPs, conserving energy and saving the world one panel at a time.

Ten points if you can spot the person having the most fun. Our vote's on the little one.

Architect: Arête Architects Ltd.
Materials: Formance

Need a helping hand on your next build? Lucky for you, the boys in green are great at holding hands when you need them. Helping hands - we meant helping hands.

A recent tennis court pavilion we whipped up. This one had a custom design and build, and included a solid concrete foundation, trellis slats, seating, a mono-pitch roof and wide Purple Heart fascia.

Ps, turns out we're going to flag the careers in tennis and stick to building. Stay in your lane and all that.

Meet Richie "Hawkeye" Hawkins, the other half of the good blokes behind the bespoke builds. Richie's been swinging a hammer ever since his dad gave him the nod, and since then, he pretty much hasn't stopped. He's guided hundreds of home and business owners along their merry building way, turning vague ideas and Pinterest boards into quality builds all over New Zealand.

With an eye for detail, a knack for communication and a hardworking attitude, Richie's one of the quiet gems of the building world. He's also got great hair.

We recently decked out some good lookin' Johns over at Beacon Point, in a castle-inspired home originally built in the '90s.

Positioned at each circular end of the house, these bathrooms upped the shower bar across the board with their rounded walls, mosaic finger tiles and custom shower shelving.

And let's not forget to pay our dues to the Iroko timber vanities. The back of the bathroom door never looked so good.

Would you believe he also lifted those beams there himself?

A recent renovation we worked on up in the handsome heights of Cardrona Valley. This rustic reno called for a new lounge, dining room and outdoor additions, and it was our role to ensure the original luxury farmhouse aesthetic was woven throughout. Custom design, Japanese-inspired oak cabinets and all.

Meet George, one-half of the good blokes behind Hawkeye. Some say George was born with a hammer in hand and one eye already scanning the room for building flaws - all we know is he's got an eye for detail and a well-earned rep as an honest, hard-working operator.

He's big on recycling old materials into new things, and brings a hands-on and creative approach to every project. Go you, George.

We've scrubbed up, polished the edges and put our freshest faces forward. A bit late on the intros, but if you haven't already seen our new look round town, here's a glimpse of the new Hawkeye brand we're proud to bring to Sunday lunch.

And by 'we scrubbed up', I mean Brand + Butter. Brand+Butter scrubbed us up. Cheers, wifey.

Keen to get your hands on the tools, swing a hammer with an epic crew, and ten years down the track take the long way home just to show your kids all the bespoke builds with your name on them?

Good news, because we're on the hunt for a couple hearty apprentices to join the Hawkeye team and start building your careers in Wānaka. Bonus points if green's your colour.

If you're interested (or have a mate who might be), get in touch with the team. Hand holding not mandatory, but encouraged.

Here at Hawkeye, we're all about collaborating with our homeowners and bringing them along for the journey. Here’s George, walking one of our current clients through their project. When it comes to high-end, bespoke builds of this size, communication is always key.

It's been one beauty of a winter season. Throwback to cold mornings out in Cardrona, tasty treats, and dogs that just don't know what hard work is anymore.

A nice little renovation we did at an old farm cottage in Bannockburn, gutting and rebuilding this classic home with matai timber ceilings and hardwood beams from the old wharf in Nelson.

We hate to say it, but firewood stacking season is here.

Here’s a Cardrona woodshed we prepared earlier, framed in recycled railway sleepers with vertical battens. And of course, the crafty lumberjack himself.

If you’re in need of a stylish compliment to your yard (and a place to store your logs), give the boys a bell.

Update! With Level 2 being extended until Sunday, we have pushed back the Bohemian Ball until 03.10.20 - more time to practice your dance moves we say!

Hawkeye Builders are ditching the steel caps and getting all dressed up for the Wanaka Bohemian Ball - mostly for the goulash and beer, but also because they’re raising money for the winners of the Hawkeye Community Project - Kahu Youth Trust and our family house bus.

The more the merrier, so don your glad rags, gather a crew and purchase your tickets via the link in our bio.

Thanks for the guys .design.nz for pulling this one together!

A massive thanks to .design.nz for jumping on board the Hawkeye Community Project to donate their design expertise for the family house bus in need.

We love the concept they’ve put forward - now to raise some dosh for their materials at the Bohemian Ball! Look out for more info 👀

Throwback to a pre-lockdown build, this original 1950’s ‘kiwi bach’ was transformed into a modern stylish home. The kitchen/living area was extended to make room for a new designer kitchen with big sliding doors on the north and west sides of the house.

The old concrete block veneer cladding was replaced with new weatherboards and solid plaster. A large deck doubles the living space in summer and creates a nice indoor, outdoor feel.

We’re stoked to be part of Lake Wanaka’s 'Supporting Local' campaign, showcasing our epic town and its wonderful local businesses in all their glory.

And what a splendid day up at Cardrona it was! Though we were a bit squinty. Cheers guys!

With so many great nominations for the 'Wanaka Community Project', we had a bloody hard time choosing just the one to win over $10,000 in local man/woman hours and materials. So we decided to pick two.

Thank you to all who nominated projects and the generous local companies who jumped on board. We’ll be in touch with how you can help our winners soon.

A little insight into how the blokes at Hawkeye Builders beat the lockdown blues.

The creative and rather resourceful Hayden mixed his love of vintage Land Rovers and knack for avoiding domestic chores with a tree house for his two year old, featuring sandpit, Hawea driftwood banister and stag head, and reimagined car body - headlights and all.

The handy George multi-mantasked to produce a few essentials around the house the kids were pretty pleased with.

And finally, Richie tried his hand at painting. There’s no photos of this, because it was as boring as watching paint dry - go figure.

13/05/2020

We’re trucking excited to announce that another local company has jumped on board with our community project campaign. The wonderful Phil Leonard from Calibre Electrical is donating a day of free electrical services to add to our two days of free building labour with $1000 in building materials from our friends at PlaceMakers & MICO Wanaka

We’ve had some awesome nominations so far! Help us spread the word by sharing this post and nominate yourself or a local family, business or charity in need below.
