We had a surprise when we woke up this morning, everything was covered in snow!!!
Biggest snowfall we have had in the area in quite some years, a very wintery wonderland! ❄️
Lots of snowmen, toboggans, and snowball fights were had today! ☃️🛷

To celebrate the 2 year anniversary of Obelisk Tours, we attended our local The Finery Gin Club, where we had a taste of Bluff Distillery’s gin, in neat and cocktail form - what a treat!

We absoutely love the glass buoy bottle as well as the story of how the distillery came to be and the hard work that made it happen.

Congratulations Chris and team, your hard work has definitely paid off!

Where does our name Obelisk Tours come from?
It comes from the natural wonder, a 26.6 metre high rock known as the Obelisk or Kopuwai that sits atop the Old Man Range overlooking Alexandra.
This happens to be me and my dad's favourite place to visit, the incredible display of nature's wonder with the most spectacular backdrop that is looking out to Matakanui, and beyond to the Hawkdun Range.

Did you know you can fly into Alexandra? Our local airport is a fantastic little airport, complete with it’s own residential airpark!
That’s right people live at the airport! How do I know this? Well the family home just happens to be one of these hangar-houses!
There is also an aircraft maintenance and restoration business, and of course, our awesome local aero club, the Central Otago Flying Club!

My dad Neil is a pilot, (along with being a driver and a skipper.) Today being the spectacular day it is, he treated me to a local flight where we flew past the Obelisk or Kopuwai as it is also known, perched on the Old Man Range overlooking Alexandra and beyond.
This is where the name for our business came from, the Obelisk is still one of our favourite places to visit whether it be by land or air!
