Nappy rash is a very common form of dermatitis (skin irritation) that looks like patches of inflamed skin on your baby's bottom.

Change the nappy frequently! Always change wet or dirty nappies as soon as possible. Some baby wipes can cause or worsen the nappy rash. Avoid using soap, bubble baths, or lotions unless they are specifically made for delicate baby skin.

Newborns and younger babies normally need to wake for night-time feeds, so this is the perfect opportunity for you to change their nappy if it’s necessary. If your baby is sleeping through, you don’t need to wake them up to do a nappy change unless there’s a poonami crisis or a p*e leakage incident.

Change your little cherub just before putting them down to sleep and apply barrier cream if you’re worried about nappy rash developing.

Reusable nappies offer many benefits. They are better for the environment, save you money and they are more comfortable for babies to wear.

It is not difficult to use reusable nappies, but they are slightly different from disposables.

Cloth nappies are customizable to absorbency needs so can be used for daytime and nighttime; add more boosters for a nappy you'll leave on longer.

Cloth diapers are better for the environment. They're long run, and cloth is a better material to have against an infant's delicate skin.

Plus, they don't contain the chemicals present in disposable diapers that may have allergenic consequences.

Cloth nappies reduce odors, dry quickly, protect skin from rash, and cost less than other disposable nappies. The coffee fiber fabric lining has a fast-absorbent inner layer for a complete solution. Cuddly Fusion Nappy is a simple-to-use, lightweight, absorbent, and stuffed & go cloth nappy.

You should never leave your baby unattended during a nappy change, so do a quick check before each change to make sure that you’ve got everything you need in easy reach.

If you're packing a changing bag, it's a good idea to include a change of clothes in case your baby's nappy leaks. A distraction for your baby, such as a small toy, can also come in handy, but it's not essential.

Nappies need changing after every poo. You don't need to change your baby's nappy after every p*e – rather, change the nappy just before or after a feed (but keep an eye out for nappy rash or skin irritation).
There's no need to wake your baby at night for a nappy change.

Every baby is unique, and how often your little one “goes” can vary from day to day.
The general rule of thumb is to change your son or daughter's nappy approximately every two to three hours.

You should only change baby's nappy at night if it is dirty or leaking p*e.
If a nappy does leak, you are most likely using the wrong size of nappy. Try a larger size.

On average, babies should have their nappy changed every two-to-three hours to prevent leaks, discomfort, and rashes.

The number of cloth nappies your baby will need depends on their age.

Typically a newborn goes through 8 to 12 nappies a day for the first six weeks, this decreases to around 6 to 8 until 6 to 9 months after it can go down to 4 or 5 nappies a day.

Reasons to Use Cloth Nappies

Modern cloth nappies are extremely absorbent and don't require changing more regularly than disposable nappies (every 3 hours or so).
They are designed to be easy to use, easy to launder and above all easy to wear.

Cloth diapers are not at all uncomfortable for babies. They are made of cotton and have easy straps for adjustment.

They fit the baby and can be adjusted as per the baby's comfort. They can be washed and used for 300 or more times.

Using a cloth diaper allows your infant to feel the wet sensation against their skin and become more aware of when they have gone poo.

How long can a baby be in cloth nappy?

We recommend to change a cloth diaper every two hours. This prevents your child from having urine against the skin for long periods of time, with the risk of redness.

The more absorbency there is in the cloth diaper, the less wet it becomes when the child p*es.

Reusable nappies last for a very long time, generally, we say they’ll last around 400 washes before starting to significantly degrade.

However, they are not indestructible and will suffer wear over time. Just like how clothes wear a little more every time you wash them, nappies do.

A cloth nappy for night use is much bigger than a disposable. But it's worth bearing in mind that it will stay the same size throughout the night.

Where a disposable will have swollen and become heavier by the next morning due the chemical reaction of urine on the sodium polymer crystals, producing a gel.
