Turakina Gravel Grind The annual Turakina Gravel Grind epitomises what we love about gravel riding. It's one of New Zealand's most popular gravel rides and it's grassroots at its best. No entry fees, no prizes, just fun, bikes and friends. We are proud to be able to make this special jersey for the ride, and $10 from eac...

Took the missus exploring out the back of Rotoiti for our Anniversary. You know you chose well when she doesn't complain after an hour of unexpected hike a bike. That's another 'road' crossed off the topomap!

A great weekend of gravel riding you can do close to Rotorua is the ride to Lake Waikaremoana. Starting from Murupara it's 95km to the campground at the Lake, and with a shop and cabins available you can travel very light. About 45km gravel each way, with some epic climbs but easy gradients to take the sting away. Pro tips: leave your car at the Murupara campground or motel for safekeeping, and check the campground shop's hours beforehand.

For a change, a legal route today so I can share it. A shorter variation on the classic Mamaku loop. Lots of variety. https://www.strava.com/activities/6524626254

ANZAC weekend bikepacking ride - anyone keen?
Hey folks, I’m planning to do this ride over ANZAC weekend, weather permitting. As described in the Kennetts’ book with a further extension to get a decentish distance on day 3. Mid-morning start from Otorohanga, planning to camp at Kiritehere (day one 96km; toilets and freedom camping) and PioPio (day two 106km; Kara reserve camping), making day 3 a little shorter (75km) so it’s easier to get back home that day.
PM me if you’re interested; Jon
