Wow what a weekend down in Wellington speedway for the Tama memorial. Tricky track, close racing and laughs all round. This weekend we toodled down to welly to compeate in the annual Tama memorial, it was a close call not to go as we only got our shocks back on the Friday we left. 16 cars had entered with a huge amount of talent across the board and it was hard to pick who could win it. The tracked looked drivey untill the stock cars made it disappear in a cloud of dust made us rethink our decisions …..

Race 1: Grids for the night were already picked. 6,14,4 were mine. With the setup completely changed from the initial setup (thanks stockcar dust storm) I knew we were going to have a god race. After a messy start we were sitting in 5th untill a yellow light came on 2-3laps in. The restart saw myself drop back into 6th but a Couple laps later the car setup showed up and all of a sudden I was driving a rocket ship. 3-4 laps later i wriggled my way up into 3rd challenging for 2nd. With 2 laps to go I couldn’t get up into 2nd so I finished 3rd.

Race 2: Ice skates setup strapped on, off the back of the grid. All I could do is move forward. And that is what I did. 14th-12th is all I could do as the track was hard and the car had a huuuuuge push no matter what I did into the corner. A fairly uneventful race you could say. No too many passes were made in the field.

Race 3: With fast cars all around me all I had to do was hold my place and I’d be in with a chance of placing in the championship. The track had come back from a slick ice ring to fairly fast dirt track, which is what I like. Hot on the heels of a close battle between 1NZ, 2NZ and 9W I was waiting for one of them to make a mistake so I could make my move, however it did not come to my fortune. 5th place finish.

Dash for cash: with lowest points off the front right down the back is where I was to be. All I can say is that this was the most “wtf is going on” race I have been apart of. Random cars in differ y grids each time, weird restart rules and so on. How ever I managed to get up to 6th from grid 11 so I’ll take that as another win.

In my opinion it wasn’t too bad of a meeting for the first title/championship meeting getting overall 5th out of 15 cars, only 4 points Behind 3rd/4th (they were tied on points). The car handled unbelievably well and it’s getting me excited for the big meetings ahead.

A HUUUGE thank you to my sponsor’s as without them I’d need to be working 4 jobs to be able to afford all this fun:
