Hooray the grafts have taken.

Spring is sure a great time to be working at Elanza Fresh.

Pretty flowers 💐 blooming everywhere 😍

What time of year is best for grafting?

The best time for grafting is in the spring just as growth starts.

When necessary, grafting can start several weeks before growth is expected and can continue a few weeks after growth has started.

Side note two of them do not go in the container for two different reasons 😁

Yesterday's Rainbow was so big and vibrant over Elanza 🌈

Figs are one of the first woody plants many gardeners try to propagate via cuttings due to their ease of rooting and rapid, vigorous growth when young.

Most varieties root very quickly, usually in about 3 weeks, making figs the gateway plant for many to the enchanting world of woody plant propagation.

20/07/2020

Depending on the variety and climate, figs can produce their small breba crop in early summer, with the main crop in late summer or into autumn.

Harvest your figs when they soften and the skin changes colour.

Ripe figs should be cut from the tree using secateurs or snips, keeping the stems intact.

Can Monarch butterflys kill you?

One fascinating fact about the Monarch butterfly is that it is poisonous.

Not to humans, but to predators such as frogs, grasshoppers, lizards, mice and birds.

The poison it has in its body will not kill these predators, but it will make them very sick.

These girls had a big job infront of them.

Trimming a few thousand strawberry plants.

It helps the plants aerate.

Reducing mold on our plants in these wet winter months.

Thank you beautiful lady's for the help.

❓What is Stratification❓

In horticulture, stratification is a process of treating seeds to simulate natural conditions that the seeds must experience before germination can occur. Many seed species have an embryonic dormancy phase, and generally will not sprout until this dormancy is broken.

07/07/2020

Rainy day here at Elanza Fresh, thankful for our protected cropping system keeping all our plants safe 👌

04/07/2020

Why do leaves fall from trees❓

🍂🍂🍂

The simple answer is this:

Leaves fall off trees so that the trees can survive the winter.

Deciduous trees shed their leaves as an active process that evolved to conserve resources and protect the tree from being blown over in the windier winter months.

The process is controlled by the plant hormone auxin.
