WAIHI CHALLENGE EVENTS JAN 2024

Get ready for the Waihi Challenge on 14th Jan race day, where our sister club from Waihi Beach will be coming to Meremere Dirt Track to race for the highly prized interclub trophy cup.

We'll then go to Waihi for the Return Challenge on 28th Jan - we need as many Meremere cars as possible, and the Club will pay your drivers fee on the day if you've pre-registered as coming! How cool is that?

It’s been a few weeks since the last race meet and the grounds need a tidy up before Sun 19th race day.

Come help and it counts towards your 2 working bees = 3 bonus points! Bring w**deaters, lawnmowers, w**dsprayers, rakes, brooms, spades etc. See you there!

UPDATE DETAILS: MEREMERE DIRT TRACK CLUB first race day this Sun 29th Oct...

We'll be opening the gates at 7.30am and will be screening the ABs vs Boks rugby world cup final in the clubhouse 8.00-9.30am.

Scrutineering 9.30am. Racing starts 11am. Gate entry only $10, under 12s free. Spectators very welcome, park by playground before pits. New food truck will be there with burgers, chips and more! And of course Gordon's coffee van.

DO YOU LOVE RUGBY AND DIRT TRACKING?
Well, GOOD NEWS you can have BOTH - this Sun 29th we'll screen the RWC final between the ABs and Boks, so get there before 8am to be ready to watch the kick-off in the clubrooms. Racing will start after the game. Give us a like 👍 if you'll be there!

Remember to bring your own lunch, and be careful where you park as parts of grass areas are still very muddy

Free gate entry for everyone, signed-up members just $20 to drive, can sign up on day for season, no food truck so BYO own lunch, Gordon will be there with coffee van and snacks.

Gates open 8am, Scrutineering by 9am, Briefing 10am.

Thanks to everyone who did an awesome job at the last 2 working bees, including clearing gorse 👍 Still plenty to do, so we still need your help 🫵

This Sunday starts 8am at Meremere Dirt Track (so we can all get home in time for Bathurst!). Bring spades, shovels, wheelbarrows, lawnmowers, w**deaters etc.

Remember if you do minimum 2 working bees, you will be awarded a bonus 3 points for your class racing.

It's pretty wet down here but to sun is shining so get those gumboots on and let's get some jobs done today.

We need spades/shovels, wheel barrows,rakes w**d eaters, water blaster and gorse cutting tools.

See you all there from 9.30, remember you can sign up at the club rooms.

REMINDER Working Bee this weekend Sun 1st Oct 9.30am start - same deal as last time we really need to finish sorting gorse and get grounds tidied up.

We’ll advise by 7.30-8am latest on Sunday if we can go ahead based on ground conditions. Here’s hoping the rain stays away!

We have a great incentive for you - if you complete a minimum of two working bees, you will be awarded a bonus 3 points for your class racing!!

We'll still be dealing to the gorse, so be great if you have a chainsaw or scrubcutter you can bring, but main thing is to bring metal rakes to pull the gorse down the bank.

Equipment needed:
Spades/Shovels/Brooms/metal rakes
Weedeaters/Chainsaws/Scrub cutters/ Water blasters/ Lawn mowers/ Sprayers
Donations of the following: white exterior paint/ rollers/ brushes
Metal – Gap 20/40
Small digger and tractor

Exciting news - here are the race dates for Meremere Dirt Track Club 2023/24 season! And working bee/sign-up dates too 😎

Meremere Dirt Track Club - Race Dates newsletter

Great news! We have a new date for our Drag Strip day!! Fingers crossed the weather plays ball this time..

With no limit on vehicle type, and open to drivers of all skill levels, come run your car or bike down the quarter mile and see what it can do!!

We'll be running a mixture of standard quarter mile runs, autocross challenges, roll racing, plus if conditions allow we'll have some good old fashioned grudge racing!

Open to any types of cars or bikes. Street cars must have a current WOF and Rego or a logbook. Caged cars anything goes provided it passes tech.

Cars are allowed up to 11.0 seconds, Street bikes are allowed up to 10.0 seconds. Helmets required, all other safety gear recommended but optional.

$90 per driver to cover cost, Passengers $20.
