Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest and largest fraternal societies. District 17 has eleven Lodges from Gisborne to Dannevirke.
There are approximately five million Freemasons worldwide and 5518 Freemasons in New Zealand with 203 Lodges. Welcome to our page. This is The Eastland - Ruahine District, one of the districts within the Freemason's Central Division. The district has eleven Lodges meeting in our area:

At the Lodge Haeata meeting last evening, a 3rd Degree Tracing Board was presented and explained by W Bro Petrie to Bros Aiken, Vermeulen and Hurst.
A Master Masons Certificate was also presented to Bro Vermeulen.
On Thursday 11.07.24 the Woburn Lodge No 25 celebrated a very enjoyable Third Degree for Brother Aries Dimayuga.
On Wednesday 10.07.24 a 2nd Degree for Bro Graham Hall was worked by the Omarunui Lodge No. 216. An enjoyable evening occasion.
On 9 July 2024, at The Heretaunga Lodge No 73, RW Bro Jim Logan PGW was installed for a second term as its Master. Around 45 visitors attended, and had an enjoyable evening.
Woburn Lodge Firewood Raffle.
In July 2024, the Woburn Lodge 25, in Waipukurau had a firewood raffle in aid of Central Hawkes Bay FoodBank.
There were only 100 tickets at $5 each.
The lucky winner was Jason Kopua, who promptly donated it to his daughter Summer.
The fire wood had been donated by a generous local, who had more than they needed.
With the money raised, plus a subsidy from The Freemasons Charity in wellington and a top up of $500 from the lodge itself, They were able to donate $2000.00 to CHB Food Bank.
On 06.07.24 Lodge Woburn 25 hosted Lodges Zetland 312 and Empire Fergusson 225 for their annual reciprocal visit which was a Second Degree working by the Zetland Lodge for their EA, Bro Mark Andersson. A very enjoyable daytime ceremony was had by all.
Freemason Lodges golf tournament raises $10,000 The fundraiser was to support local community patrols.
Thanks to the Woburn Lodge 25, Rawhiti Lodge 66 for organising this successful Charity event raising funds, mainly to cover fuel running costs met by the volunteers for Community Patrols NZ at Dannevirke and Waipukurau.
Thanks especially to the Dannevirke Golf Course for their generosity and hospitality, to the 21 sponsors contributing over 31 prizes, all the locals and Freemasons who attended this very enjoyable sunny fun day.
Around 70 registered players contributed raising $10,000 which included a significant contribution from the Hastings District Masonic Trust and the 1-1 subsidy provided from the Freemasons NZ Charity.
An event which saw Freemasons at their best supporting our community, well done W Bro Tonka Turner.

On Thursday 13th June 2024 the Woburn Lodge No 25 worked a very enjoyable Third Degree for Brother Trinidad.
Also on the night, Brother Alamani received his Master Masons certificate.
On Wednesday 13 June 2024 Lodge Omarunui No 216 celebrated the presenting of a 50th Masonic Birthday Certificate and Badge to W Bro Stuart Humphrey P Asst GDC. Many came along to join the celebration and say a few words about Stuart’s Masonic journey, with a notable turnout from ex Lodge Frimley Brethren.
The Haeata Lodge No 272 Regular meeting was a Third Degree ceremony for Bro Vermeulen was held on 28.05.24, at Hastings.
A Master Masons certificate was also presented to Bro Serquina. A good attendance and very enjoyable evening.
Scinde Lodge No 5 Regular meeting was held on 21.5.24, at Taradale and received the Hawkes Bay Research Lodge No 305 who gave a lecture on Ecclesiastes. A thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining lecture.

On 18.05.24 a 2nd Degree for Bro Alexander Timu was performed by the Port Chalmers Marine Lodge No. 942 (EC) of behalf of The Woburn Lodge No. 25.
The Rawhiti Lodge No 66 Installation meeting for W Bro John Turner was held on 18.05.24, at Dannevirke. An excellent attendance for this utterly enjoyable afternoon.
On Tuesday 14th May 2024 the Heretaunga Lodge No 73 worked a very enjoyable Third Degree for Brother Andre Gordon.
On 9 May 2024 the Woburn Lodge No 25, who meet in Waipukurau, celebrated a very enjoyable Third Degree working for Bro Ryan Alamani.

On Monday 6th May 2024 at the Hawkes Bay Research Lodge No 305 meeting in Hastings, W Bro Roger Sinclair RH IPM presented a well researched and very enjoyable Lecture on the History of the past Services Lodge No 313.
W Bro David Marriott PM was nominated as the next Master of the Hawkes Bay Research Lodge No 305.
On 27.04.24 VW Bro Christopher Douglas-Huriwai GC was installed as the Worshipful Master of Lodge Gisborne No 233. A very good turnout by Lodge members, of visitors including representatives from the United Grand Lodge of England and Grand Lodge of Scotland. A very enjoyable day was had by all who attended.
Congratulations to Rafael Serquina who became a Master Mason last night. Lodge Haeata brought Rafael to Lodge Rawhiti and presented their working of the degree. Don Casagranda presented John Turner with the travelling Hughes Gavel.

On 10 April 2024 W Bro Lester Reese PG Std B was installed as the Worshipful Master of Lodge Omaunui No 216.
A very good celebration enjoyed by all who attended.
This afternoon (10 April 2024) Napier City Councillor, Hayley Browne, together with a Youth Council Representative, officially opened a new playground at Gleeson Park.
Thanks to Freemasons Charity for sponsoring the spinning carousel which will benefit families and children, especially those who were affected during cyclone Gabrielle and to our future generations.

W Brother David Etheridge recalled the moment 70 years ago when his father struck the lamb-skin apron at his investiture as an entered apprentice. Congratulations David.
On 25th March 2024 at Lodge Haeata No 272 a Second Degree Tracing Board was well explained by W Bro Nigel Petrie PM to Bros R Sequina and N Aiken FCF’s.
On Saturday 23rd March 2024 at Wairoa, W Bro Richard Mercer P Asst GDC was installed as the Worshipful Master of Lodge Waikaremoana No 158.
Richard has now served a total of 8 years as a sitting Master between 1999 and 2024.
A highlight of today’s ceremony was the working tool presentations by the Wendelboe-Madsen family who are Master Masons of Lodge Waikaremoana, namely the father, Poul, and his two sons, Dane and Rayner.
On Tuesday 19th March, the Master of Scinde Lodge No 5, W Bro Richard Millea and his officers, had the pleasure of completing a splendid Third Degree working for Bro Briden MM.
In keeping with a recent initiative just introduced into the Scinde Lodge to recognise newer active members, Bro Jon Farquharson was presented with a 5 year certificate, plus a masonic tie or an engraved whisky glass.
Going forward these are going to be given active members in recognition of 5,10,15, 20 etc years service, primarily to acknowledge newer members and to get a bit of background to each member.
