Kia ora koutou 🙂 The Daily Offices is ceasing your lead daily Night Prayer. We are a week out of level 4 in Auckland and hope these live-streams have been helpful. If you are enjoying this daily rhythm, we encourage you to find a couple of people to pray with each day via FaceTime or Zoom. The New Zealand Prayer Book He Karakia Mihinare o Aotearoa is a wonderful resource to use. If you’re part of a church, there might be a daily prayer already offered or people who might wish to join you!
Many thanks to all of those who have joined in prayer these last 6 weeks.
God’s peace be yours 🙏🏽 Know our prayers continue for and with you.

Being Church differently

In light of the announcements and concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic in late March 2020, ADJust: Diocese of Auckland Young Anglicans for Social Justice decided to start livestreaming The Daily Offices at 7.30am, 12.30pm and 8.30pm. With the restrictions on public gatherings and many people self-isolating to protect themselves and others, we needed to find a new and creative way of being Church.

So, we got together an amazing group of volunteers from Auckland and around the country and hosted The Daily Offices three times a day everyday for over two months.

On Thursday 19 March, Anglican churches announced that Sunday 22 March would be the last day they held Sunday services for a while. We started the following day on Friday 20 March, the Friday before Level 4 lockdown and the day before the Alert Level system was revealed.

After staying home and staying safe, the government announced that gatherings of up to 100 could be held from Friday 29 May, just in time for Pentecost. This ministry, though a blessing, has served its community and is no longer needed as we return to a ‘new normal.’
