When it comes to paying employees statutory holidays, it's not always a walk in the park...

Some things (of many) to consider are

- is it the employees otherwise working day?
- are they entitled to an alternative day off?
- is the employee on annual or bereavement leave?
- does the holiday fall on a weekend?

Employment New Zealand has some great resources to read through regarding public holidays.

https://www.employment.govt.nz/leave-and-holidays/public-holidays/

If you'd rather enjoy your long weekends not worrying about whether your business is compliant, the team at Kacey Accounts is available to support you with all your payroll needs.

Have you contributed enough to earn the full annual Kiwisaver contribution for the year?

The government can contribute a maximum of $521.43 to your Kiwisaver account - to get the full amount you need to contribute $1,042.86 between 1 July and 30 June that year.

Did you know you're able to make voluntary contributions? This is great if you're a business owner taking drawings, if you're an employee on unpaid leave or if you're simply in between jobs.

It's not too late to gain the full annual government contribution - ask me how.

Happy Financial New Year 2023!

My 3 Tips for you to step into the New Year on the right foot

- Set Goals for the next 12 months. Where do you want to be this time next year? How are you going to get there? Who's going to help you along the way?

- Review your budget. Compare how last periods budget stacks up against actual figures. If you don't have a budget, create one.

- Take a break. It doesn't have to be right now but have a look at your calendar and set yourself some leave time. You are your businesses most valuable asset and just like any other asset you need to look after yourself!

May this financial year bring you and your business prosperity, health and happiness.
