The best upgrade for WP 4CS forks in a 350XC-F, the Sphere cartridge transforms these forks from harsh and horrible, to plush and pliable.
Another set of Beta KYB forks revalved, and shock kit installed. All set for enduro riding
Our Shaft holding tool is very handy, as they come with magnets and pins that can be inserted into the vice jaws to hold them on while working (they are also compatible with the Racetech jaws as in the photo)
So if youre sick of your current way of doing this, buy these here: https://www.technicalracing.co.nz/collections/tools-accessories/products/shaft-holding-tool-10mm-12mm-12-5mm-14mm
By the time your fork seals are leaking, there is also dirt and sand going through the seal and getting stuck in the soft teflon bushing.... rub that up and down the forks a lot, and you get what is in the first picture.
A good suspension Technician will put the leg in the lathe and polish it to remove pits and scores to prolong the life of the new seal, but if the forks were serviced earlier, the bushes and this job could be saved!
The fork Jam nut spanner is thin enough and long enough to safely undo the top cap jam nut without rounding it off by being half engaged. A worthwhile investment! Check out the tools section on our website for this and other very handy tools!

Here's something that is waiting to seriously hurt someone!
In this picture, the dot in the thread shows the maximum ride height this end eye can be set at.
At maximum ride height the dot will be just fully visible. While the extra 3 threads may not look much, it almost halves the thrrad remaining in the shock, and increasing the leverage on it by a lot. Especially in the likes of an R3 with no linkage, there is a strong twisting force as the swingarm moves, it will break off.
Almost always, the people that do this seem to use their gorilla arms and do up the locknut until it stretches the thread. This obviously only increases the chances of it failing.
On a side note, this YSS full racing shock is the same as what is used by some top riders in World Supersport 300's, they work closely with YSS, and don't need to do this, so if you find yourself needing to go this far beyond the limits.... is your setup really going in the right direction?
In the rare cases like a Ninja 300 that needs more ride height than what is usually available, a longer end eye, or internally extended shock should be used, but still NEVER do this! EVER! I managed to catch this one before it failed, but the thread had already been working and stretching.
We're now the NZ importer for Dal Soggio Upgrade and full cartridge kits for WP off road suspension.
These kits transform the WP 4CS and Xplor forks from very average, to something great
They are found in the suspension parts section of our website here:

Here's a good before and after of a compression adjuster tune done on a WP MX shock. The first photo shows very little change to the compression as the adjuster is moved through 1/2 its range, the second picture shows the shock after the calibration of the adjuster, and you can see the 3 lines of the 3 different adjustments through 1/2 it's range. This is why your shock should be serviced and optimised by a real suspension technician with a shock dyno
How good do the new custom dyno fittings looks from a very productive day yesterday. Thanks Jonny!
Ohlins TTX had a fresh service, revalve and check on the dyno
With NZSBK canceled this year, we have fork / shock service slots available in Feb and March, so book yours now and keep your suspension working properly.
Flat track going WP shock fully optimised on the dyno now, ready to go back home.
Exciting News! We're now stockists of Pirelli race tyres. We have 300 Supersport and 600 supersport tyres in stock. Get yours now, or book some for the future
For those interested in the Ninja 400 parity project, here is part of my role so far. I have fitted the YSS fork cartridges to it, along with a YSS full racing rear shock, which has been kindly leant to us by KSS.
I have set the basic geometry all ready for some track testing soon to dial it in better.
Once we have got it well set up, we can start to get a picture of how it stacks up against the others. As it's the only 'latest' model still with conventional forks, that may play a part in its parity.
Thanks to the others who have contributed to this project so far:
- KSS for lending us the suspension
- for doing some initial dyno work, to start working on engine parity
- , for doing pretty much everything else involved in making this into a race bike! Doing the most, as always!
Follow my Facebook or Instagram to keep up with my part to play in this project, and follow for the rest.
It's fork and shock service season! A quick reminder that shocks should be serviced annually and it's recommended to do this before the final pre season testing, as if the shock is overdue a service, the settings to make it work in that state are no longer relevant, and your testing time will be wasted with something that wasn't ever going to work!
Forks should also have a full service and check over before NZSBK to ensure they perform properly.
To avoid the panic approach where everyone wants their shock done on xmas day, I'm planning servicing now for this season.
If you'd like to book in between now and NZSBK, I recommend doing it now, so that your chosen time is available (just choose which half of which month you would like, with info of what you'rewanting serviced) and I can have the service parts here in time as things are running a bit slow in the Covid environment.
Why SKF fork seals?
SKF fork seals are more expensive than other brands, but there's a good reason for this.
SKF seals are much lower friction than all others, meaning your forks are free to move easily. This allows them to work a lot more efficiently to absorb small bumps, and gives them a better response time to respond to bigger bumps, giving a more planted front end on bumpy sections of track. One of the biggest differences between the suspension used in MotoGP/WSBK and what we use is how much internal friction they have. They literally spend thousands of $ to reduce friction by a couple of %.so why increase your fork seal drag by 40% to save $40?!
We have most road sizes in stock, so check out technicalracing.co.nz to get yours now
Really impressed with how the modified midvalve, and these Race Tech compression pistons have helped the feel of the Ducati S4R forks. Much better for track use, and more adjustment range now available also
