Just a bit of fun on Halloween 🎃 we had a bowl of treats ready but we were amazed at how dentally health conscious most of our patients were… looks like we might end up “treating” ourselves!

Dental care is more than fixing tooth decay and gum disease.

We love helping children grow well-balanced faces and healthy smiles. Trust your mother’s instinct, come see us if you have any concerns about your child’s teeth.

Take advantage of our expanding knowledge and skills that help us better provide holistic dental care.

Today, we met with holistic health practitioners including medical doctors, Chiropractors, naturopaths, homeopaths, breathing experts, and nutritionists at the Raising Healthy Families Seminar so that we can enhance our patients’ journey to their myofunctional health.

Last day of our 2022 NZDA Smile Dental Day… well we went one better and done a whole week of free dental service!

This week is proof that oral health is a team effort.

Thank you to our awesome Dental Wellness Team for organising this event.

Thanks to our dentists who volunteered their time and expertise. Without them, there could not have been a free dental week.

Thanks to Southern Cross Health for their sponsorship.

Special thanks to Dr Peter Ng for the daily floral displays to cheer us on. Today’s one was especially cheerful and in tune with October colours!

Finally, thank you to the wonderful patients who showed up and took an interest in their oral health. 👍 ❤️

We don’t get much appreciation as most people “hate dentists”. Imagine how tremendously encouraging it was when we received a gift today!!! Three boxes of Roses for each staff member and a heartfelt message. It meant the world to us and it has made our day.

Happy Queen’s birthday 🥳

Here’s an ingredient for one’s holiday mind…

When we say “Augmented Reality” can anyone relate that with dentistry?

What are your thoughts?

As a non-drinker I’ve often found it challenging to find “grown-up” drinks when out at events or in bars. The last couple of years has seen a huge increase in the options available.
AF is one of my favorite non-alcoholic drinks and I recently chatted to James Hurman on the AF Drinks podcast about my choice to do life without alcohol.

Stories teeth can tell 02/02/2021

Wouldn’t you want to know what story is your teeth collecting? Having your teeth examined by the dentist not only help you understand your dental conditions but also can give you a perspective of your dental development.

Here is an educational article about dental anthropology written by Dr Marija Edinborough, University of Melbourne.

Stories teeth can tell Research led by the University of Melbourne describes a new approach for a more detailed understanding of life history by analysing the structure of our teeth.

It’s not that your teeth are too big: your jaw is too small – Peter Ungar | Aeon Ideas 16/10/2020

What age should your child have a dental check up?

Answer: As early as 6 months or soon as you see teeth.

Why?

1. Builds your child’s confidence in the dental clinic and reduces dental anxiety

2. EARLY detection and correction of orthodontic problems from as young as 3 years old can ensure your child’s face grows to its most beautiful potential.

3. Builds a good active dental maintenance habit through life and reduces risk of dental disease eg. lowers chance of fillings in the future

Who doesn’t love looking at beautiful faces and smiles?

Take the first step to help your child’s face grow to its full potential.

ABOUT US

At Dental Wellness Centre we strive to be more than your traditional general dentist. We are here to make a difference to our collective dental experiences while doing some good for those in need of Special Needs Dental Care who are unable to afford regular oral health care without public funding. Our purpose stemmed from the lack of public funding for adult oral health. From listening to the public’s needs for affordable dentistry and recognising the limits and long waiting-lists of publicly-funded hospital dentistry in New Zealand and Australia, we have set out to accomplish what many private dentists don’t offer in order to tackle the tooth decay and gum disease epidemic. We need your help to make private dentistry affordable as much as you need a toothbrush. Our mission is to help you manage your dental care as well as identify and improve lifestyle habits such as diet and home oral care routines so that you can have as little invasive dental surgery as possible.

Our mouth is a part of our digestive system, much like our nails and hair are a part of our skin yet many do not give the same level of maintenance and hygiene to their teeth as they would otherwise care for their nails, hair and skin. Tooth decay is increasingly being recognised as a chronic disease caused by similar lifestyle habits that increase the risk of developing diabetes and obesity, while gum disease has been correlated with increased risk of heart disease. At Dental Wellness Centre, we care about your well-being and hence focus on "whole" patient care, because we believe that keeping your teeth and gums in good condition through diet and regular maintenance can truly enhance your quality of life.
