Rum Co. of Fiji Lautoka 16 Year Old Dark Rum has finally arrived into New Zealand. Lautoka 16YO rum is an ultra premium small batch dark rum that is specially crafted and aged in ex-bourbon barrels. This premium aged rum is soft and well balanced with mouth filling flavour. Complex aroma's of leathery smoked oak, dried fruits and honey. This rum delivers a rich, spicy and heavy dried fruit and smoked oak character right onto the middle of the palate. A very limited number of these have come in so get amongst it while they last, especially at such a great price for long aged rum.

Mark Reynier, also known as the owner of the Irish Waterford whisky distillery, is dedicated to applying his concept of terroir to rum production. Renegade rum distillery – located in Grenada, West Indies – is a playground where Single Farm Origin sugar canes are given a chance to shine. First two single farm releases are here Pearls Etudes & New Bacolet.

Wolfburn Aurora or Morven single malt just $75 bottle currently

Aurora is the second expression to come out of the Wolfburn distillery, founded in 2013 in the sea-side village of Thurso at the very northern edges of mainland Scotland. This new release is matured in a mixture of both American oak and ex-sherry casks, the latter bringing more nutty, orchard fruity flavours to the whisky. The malty, sea-side maritime flavour that comes from slow fermentation and oceanic maturing is there on the nose and finish. A brilliant new release from Wolfburn

Morven is the new peated expression from the Wolfburn distillery, made from barley that has been traditionally infused with the smoke of burning peat. The smoke is soft to start, combined with aromas of fresh sea air and a fruity, floral tone that comes from Wolfburn's slow fermentation and distillation. The lightness on the nose gives way to a more full-bodied flavour on the palate, carrying a tang of smoke and spices, with a vanilla sweetness that becomes spiced and very gently peppery in the finish.

For centuries the Caribbean has been a destination for European exploration and trade with many ships travelling back to Europe carrying their own fair share of Caribbean rum. During these long voyages back to Europe it was noticed that rums changed and developed over time, often becoming better when reaching cooler European climates.

This knowledge and understanding inspired us to experiment with this idea: What if we crafted an exceptional Caribbean rum but cask finished it in a cooler climate using the skills of Scotch whisky craftsmen and the perfect maturation conditions found in Scotland?

This is how Ron Larimar cask finished rums were born.
