This semester there are two UAIC Trading Events:

Texas Hold'em Tourney and a Liar's Poker Tourney.

Hey Guys

First of all, sorry to all those who missed Round 2 because of tests, due to the busy schedule we had to go ahead, but don't worry its best three of four so now is your chance to make it up!

Open Outcry Round 3 will be next Wednesday (16th May) at 6pm in OGGB 4.

We are going to have another simulation like last time, except there will be a lot more news events, so analysts will have to be on their toes and talk to traders a lot more so now may be a good time to start sorting out ways to communicate to your trader on a loud floor so you don't end up with a position like a trader at JP Morgan.

If you are interested in Trading and Investment Banking then keep reading. This year we have decided to start the Auckland University Trading Club. This will be a club built around what it’s like to work on a trading floor in an Investment Bank and set you up for that potential role sometime in the future.

We will have a series of Open Outcry (Pit trading) Competitions that are scheduled to start in week three. This will be an awesome series and will test your wits and decision making ability under pressure, exactly what one could expect to encounter on a real stock exchange. There will be good cash up for grabs. There will be other competitions following that based around the markets. We will also give you an insight in to internships and the industry.

If you liked the CMC Markets Competition then you will love this Club. We encourage you to get involved. It’s going to be extremely practical.

We realise how many people are keen on the markets and trading and trying to get in to the Investment Banking Industry. Since the practical side doesn't really get covered a whole lot at Uni we have subsequently started a trading club!

Auckland University Trading Club is a student run society. We will have plenty of competitions this year that will expose you to the pressure and excitement of floor trading (simulations Investment Banks actually use) and stock movements with a bundle of cash for the winners.

Come along and get involved, you will learn a lot about the investment banking industry and how to trade stocks. Anyone is welcome to join, no matter your level of experience!
