Matamata Racing Club would like to pass on our deepest condolences to the Brown family over the passing of Tom Brown over the weekend.

Tom contributed many many hours to the Matamata Racing Club over many years starting in 1979 from judicial committee to committee member, vice president and president and a patron from 2004-2006.

A service to celebrate Tom's life will be held at St Andrew's Anglican church in Cambridge on Friday 5th July 11am

Last week Graeme Styles and Ryan Gartner attended this year's New Zealand Racecourse Managers association conference in Riccarton.

This year Ryan Gartner was awarded with the 2024 Racecourse Managers Association NZTR Rising Star scholarship award.

This scholarship comes with the opportunity to attend the Australian Racecourse Managers conference in the Gold Coast in August.

It’s not quite the same as snow racing at St Moritz, but we are hosting our last meeting for the season next Wednesday the 5th of June.

With less than 3 days to go until our inaugural RSA Red Poppy Appeal Race Day, we are looking forward to hosting local RSA Clubs Matamata RSA Morrinsville RSA Mt Maunganui RSA Ngaruawahia RSA & Mangakino RSA on the day.

Come on down Friday the 26th of April to enjoy the great racing on offer and add your piece of history on the day.

First race is 12.47pm and for every drink sold on course on the day, Matamata Racing Club is donating a portion of the takings to the participating clubs.

It is a day that has reached us all in some way, whether it was by losing a loved one or fighting for our future, we all need to embrace the importance of a day like this.
