The I.T. sector is on the move! As we enter the second week of the year, I've been busy speaking to candidates who are ready for a new challenge. One conversation stood out to me, where a candidate was looking for a Senior position in a company just like the one they were already in!

It's not uncommon for employees to feel stuck in their current role and look for a new job to progress. However, before making any moves, it's important to have an open conversation with your Manager. Companies are better equipped to help you achieve your goals if they know what they are.

As the saying goes, "If you don't ask, you don't get and you don't know". So, before you start job searching, speak to your Manager and find out if there are any opportunities for progression within the company.

I spoke with a candidate today who is originally from overseas but has relocated with their family to NZ for "a better life".
This individual worked for a top tier I.T. company, in a Senior role, with over 10 years experience in the sector but has come to NZ and is struggling to find employment.
The candidate is frustrated but has been previously advised that they need "NZ experience".....
so the question is this;
How does one get NZ experience in their field of expertise if no one will hire them to gain "NZ experience"?

The struggle is real and sad for some.
