Loaders Civil

Civil Contractors I D Loader Ltd is a 3rd generation family business involved with civil engineering. We carry out most of our work for local authorities.

The business was started in Wanganui by Ian Loader (snr) in 1954 and was predominantly based around bulldozer work for the local district. I D Loader Ltd was formed as a company in 1963 and, other than a few years working from a large back yard at home, has been based at 172 Ridgway Street (Cnr of Hatrick and Ridgway) in Wanganui. The ownership of the company has changed through the generations an

Massive congratulations to John McMillan for his impressive performance at the National Civil Contractors NZ cable Price Excavator Operator of the year.... πŸ†

John REALLY did himself, his family, the Manawatu-Whanganui Region & ALL of us at Loaders Civil so damn PROUD, coming away with the "One day Job" cup and doing so amazing overall.

It was awesome to watch John compete over the last few days at the Central District Field Days.
John competed every task with patience, determination, passion, organisation & skill.

This event is such an amazing battle between the top digger drivers in the country & It was so awesome to see the banter & genuine support between all of the competitors, both while battling one another & and at the awards celebration lastnight. It's safe to say the boys have made some life long mates out of this Competition.

John, You're a real legend & we can not wait to get behind you next year too. Not bad for a Grader driver!!

Great to be recognised for one of the many jobs we have been doing up the Paraparas this year!

Roadworkers have made great progress repairing a slip on State Highway 4 south of Otoko (near the intersection with Hawken Road) to bring the road back up to two lanes following a washout last year.

Thanks to their work we expect this section of SH4 to be open to two-way traffic in time for Christmas, with a final reseal scheduled for the New Year.

A big thanks for your patience while we complete this important work.

A reminder that water mains throughout Whanganui will be flushed from 8am tomorrow, Wednesday 21 June, until 5pm on Friday 23 June. This work will get rid of any sediment build-up in pipes and check that fire hydrants are working correctly.

If you notice any discolouration in the water that doesn't clear after running your outside taps for 10-15 minutes, please call our infrastructure team on 06 349 3047 or the after-hours team on 06 349 0001.

Our city water mains are about to get a clean out!

For three days next week, from Wednesday 21 June, contractors will be busy flushing out the mains throughout Whanganui to remove any sediment build-up as well as ensure the fire hydrants are operating properly. This work involves forcefully releasing water through the pipes, via the hydrants.

Local contractors Bullocks, Downer, Loaders, Redstar Services, TD Drilling, and Veolia will complete the daily flushing between 8am and 5pm. The flushing will continue up until 5pm on Friday 23 June.

Unfortunately, we can't give exact times and locations for this routine maintenance, but you may notice water coming out of the fire hydrant in your street, with contractors in attendance.

If you notice some water discoloration, air in the water, or low water pressure after your street has been flushed we recommend you run your outside taps for 10 to 15 minutes. If the water hasn't cleared after 15 minutes please call the council’s Infrastructure team on 06 349 3047 or on 06 349 0001 after-hours.

Thanks for your patience.

Palmerston North is hosting motorsport legend Greg Murphy and neuroscience educator Nathan Wallace for a teen road safety talk to educate young drivers and their parents about safer driving.

Young drivers distracted by their mobile phones was the biggest concern of parents of teenage drivers, a survey by New Zealand vehicle safety and training provider AutoSense showed.

Murphy said seven people aged 15-24 died on ManawatΕ«- Whanganui roads in 2022.

Last year throughout NZ, 110 young people between 15 and 24 were killed in crashes, almost a quarter of the overall toll of 464 people. And hundreds were injured.

If you're a teenager who's just starting to drive, or if you're a concerned parent, you won't want to miss the teen road safety session being held in Palmerston North. This event will provide valuable information and tips on staying safe on the road, and purchasing a ticket is an investment in your safety and peace of mind.

The Palmerston North event is at Freyberg High School on Tuesday from 7-9pm.

Tickets are available from eyesupnz.co.nz

Some of the Loaders team have spent the past week working in the Hawkes Bay, digging through metres of silt that covers so much. Sadness lurks over the region, after cyclone Gabrielle tore through & left such devastation.

For us, seeing firsthand the damage, really puts the people of Hawkes Bays loss into perspective. Our hearts go out to all affected, and being there to help with the clean up is an honour 🀍 πŸ’›
