A current project 7 weeks in that I have on the go in the Upper Moutere hills, from concept through to completion, more updates to come as the build progresses. This is a spacious north facing 4 bedroom family home, three bathroom and attached garage. Well it's been quite a year with many projects completed, one being a passive house designed and built by Jason of Kernow Construction, Nelson. This home promises to be an extremely comfortable home with ultra low heating and cooling costs. Solar gain being collected through the portal windows and doors with the extended eave providing just the correct amount of shading in the Summer to prevent overheating. The eave is not too large ensuring heat is harnessed from the sun in the winter months this is then stored in the fully insulated exposed polished concrete floor that releases it through the night to provide a constant comfortable warmth throughout the home, this is managed by a Zehnder heat recovery unit, truly this is the way forward for a healthy and energy-efficient indoor climate.

Period Villa Extension in Nelson
The brief for this extension was to design an additional bedroom/workroom that blended seamlessly with the existing Villa.
Careful consideration was given to ensure the new bedroom complimented all aspects of the Villa, the resulting design replicated and used existing features of the home with the introduction of a reclaimed church window adding more character.
Once I had approval for the alterations from N.C.C. I undertook the construction work stitching new with old, working with other tradesmen to ensure a quality build was completed, it is very satisfying when you can stand back after all of the hard work and see how the design fits so well with the existing building.

Construction is now under way for a passive house that replaces a home within a heritage area, retaining some of the original look from the street yet with a modern elevation to the rear.

Design and construction of a bespoke outdoor entertaining area constructed using Douglas Fir. Designed to compliment the existing dwelling this space I’m sure will be well used, very happy clients.
