Under a creamy Autumn sky, spent the afternoon putting the finishing touches to this Kingfisher, my last bronze for the upcoming exhibition at Little River Gallery on May 4th. Last of 12 bronzes to feature in 'Feather/Flora'.
After the rain cleared , and was replaced by a still and cloudy afternoon, I was able get on with patination of the last 3 bronzes for upcoming Little River Gallery exhibition. Shown here are Arctic Tern, singing Bellbird, and Brown Kiwi. Next stage will be waxing and polished to seal those multilayered patinas.
A full April Fools day, of next stage patination of bronze birds for Little River Gallery exhibition. Multiple colours and chemicals applied to the surface in stages over the day. Final waxing and polishing later in the week if this mild temperate autumn weather holds.
I even performed a 'Resurrection' with the Huia, in living bronze!
Featured also, Barn Owl, Singing Tui, Morepork, Pied Stilt, Black Robin.
Easter Sunday, and as the weather rose from dead, decided to get on with the patination of finished and fettled bronze birds destined for May Exhibition at Little River Gallery. Two Owls (Barn owl..sleeping..and a Morepork (Ruru) wide awake..with thier first stages of colour (patina) applied. More refinement to come over the next week.
Also featured (sleeping) Is a Pied Stilt.
Hope the weather holds in the coming week for more progress.
Another Day, Another Bird! Spent the day dodging raindrops, and chilly winds to finish some more bronzes for upcoming Exhibition at Little River Gallery. Hoping for some sunshine days to start colouring (patination) of this growing flock.

Dire predictions of Bad Friday
weather didn't eventuate so taking advantage of the Good Friday to fettle bronze birds for upcoming exhibition at Little River Gallery on May the 4th. So on with the work, so

Opening night of Sculpture on Shore..after torrential rain, and the sun and the 'arte de Sol' appeared as well!!
Installation of my 'Ancient Echo' (Unknown Warrior- Celtic) lifesize bronze for the Sculpture on Shore at the Takapuna Naval base. Gala opening on Friday 3rd November and open for public view for the end of November. One of 135 outdoor sculptural works..hoping for lovely spring weather for best viewing experience 👌

Taking advantage of a break in the weather in Wellington to start finish and fettle on 'Ancient Echo Unkown Warrior 'Celtic' Next stages fine fettle and polish, then patination, weather gods permitting.
Taking advantage of mild autumn weather to finish assembly of recent bronzes. Followed by a walk in the park..and taking in this view of another quite talented sculptor.
A wonderful blue sky day in Auckland, and my 'Singing Tui on Flax' just delivered to Parnell Gallery has taken up a window perch, to sing the praises of autumnal sunshine.
Anne Spencer OBE, commissioned by Country Womans Institute New Zealand, is finished and ready for its journey to Napier, where it will be installed on Hastings St, in the New Year.!
Getting on with finishing these two bronze birds, as looking skyward, Wellingtons golden weather is going grey. The birds are still glowing, and will shine brightly in a few days once patinated, and polished.

Final casting of the year, and all bronzes cast perfectly. Hoping for continued fine weather for the many hours of clean up and finishing.
Just beat the spring rain to put tye finishing touches to my latest bronze birds. Morepork and Kiwis making the most of early nightfall before daylight saving kicks in.
Looming over them is a Tieke (Saddleback) still with its first fettle shiny bronze plumage. Hopefully, Spring weather permitting it will get its colour ,(patina) tomorrow!
Weeks of work, but finally finished today, 2022 NZ Thoroughbred Racing Horse of the Year Awards due for presentation on 4th of September.
Main award is the Thoroughbred in Full Flight on granite base.
Busy week in the studio with works in progress, and a completed bronze female torso from the 'Ancient Echo Series'..this one called 'Ancient Echo 'Heartstrings'
The avian piece is a 'Tieke' (Saddleback) which is an initial sketch for a trophy for an new International Golf tournament at the Tieke Golf Course near Hamilton.
New version of Kereru, and partly completed Godwit. Works in progress, a few weeks away from completion.

Update on the Arctic Tern..patination complete, and ready to ascend.
Dodging the raindrops to make this Arctic Tern 'fly' with a complex patination. A combination of colour and flame..over an hour to get a result. Next stage wax and polish over the next few days to lock in the final finish. Fortunately indoors, as this bird may handle wild weather, I may not!
Making the most of a cooler Autumn day to fettle and finish two new bronzes. A Morepork (Ruru) and Kereru(Wood Pigeon). It will be a few more days for the patina to develop its full spectrum of colours, and for the finale of waxing and polishing. Looking forward to these birds to 'sing' by weeks end.
New bronzes in various states of finishing, in very balmy weather. Should all have been patinated, and polished by weeks end, if this weather holds. May even get to various galleries pre Christmas. A bit of Heavy Metal to accompany the Xmas 'spirit'!
Taking advantage of a sunshine spring day to complete this Tui on Flax commission. Final wax and polish. On its way to its new collector in Christchurch.
Taking advantage of fine spring days to clean up and patinate the latest crop of bronze castings. Among the group are Tuatara, Storm Petrel, black Robin's, and fantails. If the weather holds for Labour Weekends, they should be waxed and polished, and if Covid takes a break, most will be going to northern galleries!
