to receive an email from the NZ Events Association yesterday advising that I have been selected as a Finalist for 'Best Established Event Professional' for the 2nd year in a row.

Carter Consultants is a small team consisting of myself and Campbell Ross and I am just so proud of what we and our group of contractors and suppliers have been able to achieve over the past few years. This acknowledgement is testament to their support, along with the organisations and businesses that back us, trust us to do the best for them and buy into it whole heartedly.

It's also doubly special as the South Island Masters Games has been named a Finalist for 'Best Community of Not-for-Profit Event under 3,000'.

To all the finalists across all categories - congratulations! It's a hell of an effort to do what you do and I look forward to celebrating our industry with you all in November.

QUARTERLY UPDATE: The April - June Event period is coming to an end for us at CC. It has been an enjoyable quarter with five fun events delivered:

Hanmer Four Square Half Marathon
Christchurch 10km Series
Mt Isobel Challenge
The Mud, Sweat and Tears Challenge - Dunedin

Over 5 event days we welcomed over 4,000 attendees, over 200 volunteers and gave out over $15,000 in prizes.

We got to work with some epic bands including Brad Staley, The In Crowd, Volts, Sweet Mix Kids and Zed and some of the best and most helpful suppliers going around including Event Hire Christchurch, Sport Canterbury, Fahey Fence Hire Ltd and Vibrant!

➡️ UPDATE | What a first third of the year it has been with five events including a Super Smash Cricket game on NY Day in ChCh, the Seaside Festival in Timaru, Gintastic in Dunedin, the New Zealand International Gin Festival in Arrowtown and The Bandquet in Hanmer Springs.

In all it has been 10 event days, but months and months of planning, meetings, negotiations, liasising, reworking and enjoyable times with Campbell Ross & Ally Kulpe.

Many thanks to all the suppliers, partners, artists and businesses that have shown faith and support in what we do, as well as all the people that have traveled and enjoyed the various events on show.

Looking forward to the next four months which has 6 events including the Hanmer Four Square Half Marathon, the Mt Isobel Challenge, Smiths City Mud, Sweat & Tears Challenge in ChCh, The Mud, Sweat and Tears Challenge - Dunedin and the first two of four events in the Christchurch 10km Series.

THAT’S ALL SHE WROTE FOR ‘22 | Excited to say that other than the washup of a couple of events we are done and dusted for the year!

A year that started off pretty atrociously with covid running rampent through the events industry, and ended on the high of Cup Day and the highest racing turnover (of any code) in history.

The year in stats:

- 2 cancelled events
- 3 rescheduled events
- 1 event changed on the eve of lockdown
- 4 first time events designed & developed
- 11 events delivered
- 26 event days
- 32,345 attendees / participants
- FINALIST Seasoned (Aged) Event Professional of the Year

Not going to lie… I am tired, and when I look at the list… I see why. We are a small team and we work bloody hard.. and I am bloody proud!

I am looking forward to a good break, much needed time with the family and a conscious realignment to focus on ‘Health before Wealth’.

2023 is going to be big. But big on the things that matter.

Today we raise a glass (or 2) to what has been a hell of a month.

It started with Brews on the Bay on 1 Oct, then moved on to the Alpine Energy Coastal 5k, 10k & Half Mara (7 & 8 Oct), South Island Masters Games from 7-16 Oct and then our first outdoor Gintastic event yesterday.

We get a short spell (thanks Labour Day) then right back into it with The Selwyn Fete (Sun 6 Nov), IRT NZ Trotting Cup Day (Tues 8 Nov) and then the HARNESS GRAND PRIX and Hanmer Holiday Homes Alpine Marathon 2022 (3 & 4 December respectively).

A huge thanks to all our sponsors, suppliers, customers, participants and vendors that have made the last month something special.

Finally big ups to Campbell Ross who has had the job of putting up with me and helping this all come together!!

One more push to Xmas… Let’s do this 💪💪.
