Congratulations to kiri from woods waitford ltd for winning the apprentice silver trowel this year at the master brick and block conference. We've had the pleasure of having kiri work with Mcgregor masonry on some projects.

First women to ever win, it's great to see women entering the trade.

Scaffold is down and we are very happy with the end result and more importantly the client is very happy.

We are under the pump now, and it's just the way we like it.

We still have an estimated 60,000 blocks to lay, thousands of holes to drill, numerous columns to box and concrete pou, plus a load of concrete pumping.

We will be working on 3 separate parts of the station in big teams, concrete pumping on the daily. This whole place is buzzing.

The building crew are doing some amazing work bracing and pouring these huge columns. The steel fabrication is second to none.

Appreciation to all employees and subbies putting it in every day and to the managing team making this ship sail 👍

The blocklaying community came together today to pay our respects to Jess McDowell from Auckland Brick & Block, who sadly passed away recently.

We had a memorial in Morningside Tavern where Jess won the Jim Mathews Award for the outstanding brickwork seen in the photo.

Respect to all the guys who turned up today

Great getting the McGregor gang together for an afternoon of bowling and a few drinks.

We work hard all year round and all deserve a break. It's a time we can show our appreciation to the gang. Everyone who turned up today is a big part of why we are successful. We are a team and a good one at that.

The tough times are coming, but as you have all been loyal and had our back, we have yours 🤜🤛

Block bases are the bread and butter of the trade.

They normally have good access and will have good runs to maximise your day.

With most block bases being an average of 1m, scaffold is not normally needed. Most of the time, you won't need washouts either, which eliminates cleaning around the steel and boxing up the holes in the blocks before concrete pour.

1100 blocks split between these 2 bases. A crew of 2 blocklayers and a good experienced labourer will complete this within 3 days. Then we will concrete fill on the 4th day, giving our clients a quickturnaround. All while only using afew resources, which also maintains good quality work👌

Some serious steel fabrication.

The team is busy shuttering up the structural steel walls.

We use the doka system when forming the shutters as this is proven to be a safe, strong system to tackle the huge weight load of concrete.

There can be anywhere from 30-60m3 of concrete and can be poured on a given day in various sections.

One cube of concrete weighs around 2500kgs, so it's extremely important to work to the highest standard and care when forming these huge insitue walls.

Some decent propping and getting ready with the prep for our pour next week.

The building team is out at marine parade boxing up and fabricating the steel beams for the cantilever slab. Concrete pour next week.

The guys with a big push the last couple of weeks. The whole of the west side is nearly complete.
