The need is great and the small church at Eluwai is filled to capacity, with more people arriving seeking care. The team is surrounded by the vibrant Maasai culture. Their work is changing lives with the gift of improved sight.

The team experienced a hectic couple of days, including productive clinics in Raranya and a split in the team. Niall attended a meeting in Moshi while Kent and Pania returned to New Zealand. The remaining team members followed later, but their bus broke down, causing them to miss their flight and necessitating a lengthy bus ride back to Arusha.
All is now well, and together again it’s out to the Maasai community at Eluwai for the second to last clinic for this trip.
Passion is high and even through the exhaustion exciting plans are being made to return to Tanzania with bigger and better ideas.

Your help is required! We have provided over 200 people with life-changing glasses, but the need is significant, and our supplies are depleting. Our team will go to Raranya tomorrow for more clinics and stopover in Mwanza city to buy more glasses. Please donate through our give a little page to sustain our project.

Over 250 people were seen at our Shinyanga Eye clinic today, with the team working tirelessly for long hours. The clinic's wall now features our logo, hand-painted overnight, much to Niall's surprise.

On day one of clinic, before the team began, Niall officially opened the brand new purpose built building, home to Eye Care for Africa, Shinyanga.
What a wonderful day!
Much blood, sweat and tears, plus many blisters went into the colossal fundraising effort by Niall to make this dream a reality.
A huge thanks to John Wambura of Golden Grace hospital and Lloyd Passey for all the work you put in to make this happen.

What an exciting day!
Niall and team have hit the ground running in Tanzania. They arrived yesterday in Shinyanga and were greeted by over 60 people waiting patiently to be seen outside our newly completed eye clinic.
These local people slept and waited for the clinic to open this morning. As the team prepared for what is shaping up to be a challenging but successful day.
There is 200+ patients now lining the little Shinyanga street for their turn to be seen.

The main purpose of the walk was to raise awareness and funds for Eye Care For Africa. Donations can be made by following the link;

Starting on October 25th 2022, Niall is attempting to walk Te Araroa as a fund-raising drive for Eye Care for Africa. Te Araroa is a 3008km through-hike the length of New Zealand. The main purpose is to raise funds to build a small eye clinic in Shinyanga, a remote part of Northern Tanzania. Shinyanga is hours away from the nearest eye care facility. All monies raised go to the cause with all professionals paying their own way.
