Waitakere Water Polo Club

It’s been a big four weeks so far of the U16 Season! As we clear the half way mark of the season we can reflect on some of the amazing results and learning experiences our three U16 teams have had so far 🙌🏼🙌🏼

🟡🤽🏽Gold Girls (Div 2) are running 3 wins and 2 losses with one more pool game this Saturday (3:30pm at SHC) and then a bye next weekend before having their final placing game on 7th September!

🟡🤽🏼‍♂️Gold Boys (Div 1) have had some tough games and are currently playing in the 5-9th pool in a round robin style. This Saturday they are playing Sea Wolf Grey at 2:40pm at Dio.

🔵🤽🏼‍♂️Teal Boys (Div 2) finished their original pool round in a 3 way tie and have gone through to the 5-10th playoffs and have three games to go for the rest of the season. This weekend they will be playing at SHC at 1:50pm.

Our U14s have had an epic weekend down in Rotorua at the the Development Tournament! 🤩

Our boys finished in 6th place (2W 3L) and the girls finished 10th (1W 5L)! 🥳

A massive thank you to our managers and parent helpers for all of their hard work and support, as well as to our coaches! 😊

A great first day for our U14s at the Rotorua Development Tournament 🌟🌟

Our Boys game away with a strong win against Hutt while the Girls had two losses, one against Hutt and then other against Tauranga.

Between the two teams, they will be playing 5️⃣ games tomorrow - a massive effort for them both!!

Happy birthday to Jasper who celebrated his birthday with the teams 🎂

A massive congratulations to Liston College and Glen Eden Intermediate School for their outstanding performances in the Tim Sonderer Memorial Trophy Year 7 & 8 Tournament ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Both schools compete weekly in our Western League, it’s epic to see them taking on a National comp 💪🏼

Last weekend hosted our U16 Boys in their Matariki Weekend comp! 💪🏼

A huge thank you to them for hosting our lads in this preseason tournament that gave they the ability to jump in for a few days of games before their season roles around in a couple weeks 🤩

Our Men had a terrific run in Round 2 and are looking to give it everything again over a busy 3 days! They have 5 pool games and one crossover game on Sunday! 💪🏼

Their games are split over St Peter’s, Cambridge and Waterworld, Hamilton.

Over the last week some of our club members have been involved with the New Zealand Men’s U20 Programme!! Over the last three days the team have played a tri-series against the U18 Australian Green team, coming out on top 2-1. ⚫️⚪️💪🏼

One Senior Men’s players & U12 Head Coach, Fin, is in the squad and played over the last 3 days (on top of all the trainings!). Special shout out to Fin who celebrated his 19th birthday at the game yesterday - even scoring an incredible goal from set 🥅 🎂🥳

Our club Head Coach has been helping the men’s age group programme and joined for this game as the assistant coach. His valuable insights are always amazing to have poolside. We are stoaked to see his epic water polo knowledge continually being shared with rangatahi country wide!

Liv Patrick 🟨🟥
Liv made her international debut, refereeing the third match between NZ & Aus. While it wasn’t an offical game, and more used for training purposes, it is amazing to see how local refs take on these challenges 💪🏼

Conal Martin👀
Popping in for our forth photo, we have Conal who, like Fin, has been involved with this U20 squad (and the U18 squad). Conal is one of our Senior Men, but plays for for the rest of the season!

Not pictured is Sam Fuemana from who has joined a few teams in our club over the years. Sam is also a member of the U20 squad alongside Fin and Conal.

A massive congratulations to our Senior Men who have finished 4th in Round 2 of the Division 2 National League 🤽🏽‍♂️💪🏼

The men fought tirelessly over the last 3 days and have come away with their best result in a NZWP Division 2 Round - 4th. NZWP will update us later today with their final overall placing for the tournament so far.

We have one more round to go before the tournament concludes - taking place at the end of June. 🌟
