We are deeply saddened to hear of the loss of one of the biggest names in the organic sector with news of the Huckleberry stores in liquidation yesterday in Auckland.

Our small industry is based on values of community, love of the earth and respect for each other and when something like this happens it hurts us all. Of course those affected most are the people who have lost their jobs overnight and our thoughts are with them all at this difficult time.

MANDARIN HARVEST // Our Mt Eden Produce Manager, Hui and Assistant Manager, Ben spent the day helping to harvest organic mandarins in the Kauaeranga Valley this weekend. The good news is that she will be staying on with the company to support other areas of the business as the need arises, so customers and staff will still see her around. It's always great to see the industry come together (organic values seem to attract such a lovely bunch of people 😍). When we read that the new government had "yet to make a decision" on the draft law proposed in July 2023, we were extremely disappointed. 😤

We decided to take action and petition once more (and hopefully for the last time) for the government to introduce modern slavery legislation into NZ law.

More than 60 organisations, advocates, businesses and researchers have signed their support. Now we're asking you to lend your voice and spread the word to your friends, family and community.

MEET THE TEAM // We are delighted to introduce Liam who has recently stepped into a new role of Grocery Manager in our Wellington City store. Liam has been working with Commonsense since he was 15 starting out as a cleaner in our Kapiti store (where his little bro Sean still works). He has a wide range of skills which make him a highly competent member of the team including being a technical superstar which is invaluable in any work environment! He is already acing his new role and we look forward to finding more challenges for him to take on in the future. 😊
