Next Wednesday - 20th September - we've helped organise for Ben and Iraia from Kaipara Moana Remediation to be guest speakers at the monthly Kaiwaka Can meeting. They'll be discussing funding that they're providing for planting if you're in the Kaipara Moana region, and how they're helping clean Kaipara Moana. All Welcome... Archie Bull Hall, Kaiwaka, Wed 20th Sept, 5:30pm

I was asked to design a pontoon for Kaiwaka's river to activate it for Kayaking, so what I've done is combined this with plans for their riverside walk, to make what is in effect a river park for the community :). Being tidal a ramp was more suitable, and themes include cleaning the water with riparian planting, attracting fauna, creating a woven aesthetic, and water being the common denominator to connect people.

Just a few nice photo's of Peekaboo in Kaitaia that Ben from Stories In Boxes shot for us a couple of days ago. Wrapped with how they've captured the space.

Good to see the Far North hospitality scene getting some love, with a nice focus on Peekaboo Backyard Eatery, which we designed the fit out and branding for :) Daniel and Stefanie, the owners, are awesome - huge passion and a great vision behind creating this family friendly and all round relaxed social space for Kaitaia. A sculptural approach to a large space. Here we had a big open space to deal with, so divided it horizontally with a plane of gridded cross shaped light boxes, and snaked a large glazed wall through the middle of it to create a simple maze-like passage that formed a series of individual spaces as one walked through.

Civic design case study. We've been increasingly working our way into the civic design space over the last couple of years. This is a study for a 'kinetic' meeting place, that sculpturally changes with the tidal estuary. The same principles as a pontoon, but sculptural. As the tide drops and rises forms are created that mimic local rocks and are designed to be interactive, and connect people to their environment - the coastal estuary. This one is for a town in the Kaipara region.

Blast from the past, aka uploading some past projects #1 - Have fond memories of the White Rabbit. The all day offering worked perfectly - like hanging out at a friends house in the sun - Akl CBD coffee & meetings in the morning through to a 5pm wine in the afternoon. Characteristic old building, refreshed nicely from what had been a dark tired space for years.

Photos of a fun little project at the Botany Town Centre food court, that I'd been meaning to shoot for a while. Charcoal Chicken worked out really well in a short timeframe, helped by some great work by Navie and his shopfitters at Build Projects Kiwi, and some really helpful management and overseeing by the team at AMP Capital. Great charcoal cooked food too!

Popped out yesterday to get these photos of the Melt Soul Food restaurant and bar, at Ormiston Town Centre. Happy to see the metal exterior is aging nicely alongside the joinery and planting. The Town Centre out there is great, nice vibe - worth heading down if in South/East Akl.
