THE BIG DAY AYE!
You guys lost ya froth for this cake! So I thought I’d share a few words from the lovely couple who celebrated their wedding day with BearLion.
“Alesha from Bearlion catered the food for our wedding and damn in was GOOD! We had a range of dietary requirements (including having all of the food vegetarian and coeliac friendly) which Alesha easily took in her stride. Bearlion was a natural fit for us. Who could say no to plant-based, local, seasonal deliciousness?! The cake in particular was a fudgy chocolatey scorched meringue work of art!
10/10 highly recommend!

Ian’s fish recipe

Celebrate nature with care and respect!
IAN’s FISH
1/4 c flour
1 large fillet per person
2 tbsp olive oil
K**b of butter ( Ian says HEAPS, but not a s**tloads)
2 eggs, beaten
Salt
Lemon juice
Ian’s my Dad and he’s a good bastard.
He’s no good at omelettes but he’s f**ken awesome with fish, I do feel this would
be up there for my last meal, breakfast that is.
Coming straight in from a morning fish with dad in the dinghy not far from shore.
Freshly caught and cooked with mums bread that has to be toasted and left to go
cold, spread with inch thick butter. All around the dining table with endless cups
of tea and time……
METHOD
Place the flour in a container with a lid or reuse a bag, add fillets and shake about until dusted
evenly.
Heat oil and butter in pan, dust off any excess flour from fillets into beaten egg
and place in the hot pan for a few minutes until golden brown. Flip and cook on
other side.
Dish up on your plate with a crank of salt & squeeze of lemon, don’t forget the
toast and tea.

It’s real easy my friends
Depending on ripeness, simply place whole and washed quince in roasting dish half filled with water .
Cover & cook for 1 hour or until tender. 180-200oc
Leave to cool
Remove all flesh and use as you want

I’m not perfect, who is? I do feel convenience is too convenient when it comes to food. But there are actual food options.
If there is one veg I turn to when the ol garden and fridge is bare or time is short, it’s the ol pea.
Served up here with red onions, apple, mustard and mint. Bring a lil food freshness and light to a winter meal.

FIG LEAF
Great lil flavour booster!
I adore in tea or finely dusted on a cake, like this quince, almond & nettle number with yuzu sugar.
All the fig leaves are over now in our area but be sure next time to dry and try 🍃
