Fairy lights - the cosy evening feel guarantee. Or at least for that moment before you realise the mozzies are biting and once they stop is already too dark to take a picture 😅
The bat vortex
sunset beach walk with a line of bats above our heads ( apart from visual they also make sounds and smell too )
Today marks exactly 5 months since we left New Zealand and started the Australian van life. Ever since we spent : 2 nights in Sydney, 1 night in Sea World resort, 3 nights in friends house in Airlie beach, 5 nights in Darwin, 1 night in a cabin in Kakadu National Park ( because car broke down), 10 nights in friend’s house in Perth and another 3 more nights in Airbnb. EVERY OTHER NIGHT we slept in our car, during 5 months. I will let you do the math, but yes, majority of those nights were in our van. A big thank you to whoever hosted us, that house I recorded video was also in our friend’s house in Chch! And will keep you posted with more of travel pics :)
That was Brisbane bike count on the 14th of January, can you imagine the yearly total around December?
You can call us the covid chasers!
On the 15th of December 2020 when we landed in Australia , one day later Adelaide went into lockdown.
Just two more days later cases started to emerge in Sydney and we managed to head to Canberra just before we got locked in NSW. In January 2021 while in Gold Coast we found out about Brisbane going into lockdown as well and we entered the city just after it got lifted. As you can see per picture- these days some restrictions were still in place, even when allowed to go out, and yes handle the koalas, we still had to do it in a proper” mask on “covid style. As we traveled more north of Queensland we found out about Perth heading into lockdown on the 31st of January. While in Northern Territory we met some Victorians who as much enjoyed exploring National Parks with us, were already confused weather they will be allowed to go back to Melbourne as these guys were going on 5 days lockdown on the 13th of Feb. While exploring WA we just heard about Brisbane going on lockdown again on 28th of March. We eventually made it to Perth for Easter, 3 weeks after exploring the city we have been eventually joining the lockdown ourselves. We are on our day three stay at home order but some restrictions will get lifted tomorrow- woohoo.
There is something absurd about this picture, this roo looks like could be their clasmate or something
