Camp Kaitawa
Camp Kaitawa is the premium Education Outside The Classroom venue in Hawke's Bay.
Is it designed for schools to run their own camp in the mighty surrounds of Lake Waikaremoana.
Another successful work week was held in early January 2024 with Rotarians from The Rotary Club of Greenmeadows, New Zealand, and Rotary Taradale, along with Trustees, and friends of Rotary and Kaitawa.
Most successful was the major painting of the Manager's house and the painting of the recently refurbished Ward and Bell Huts, along with the south wall of the main building.
The place looks s***k and span and ready for the 2024 influx of student attendees and other groups.
A maintenance team will be back for a long weekend in March to finish off the fiddly painting jobs and other minor maintenance jobs.
Thank you to our Managers - Grace and Maddy for their ongoing care of the facilities.

The Camp Kaitawa Trust members and friends of the Camp gathered together for the annual maintenance and work during the past week. Many achievements and accomplishments were made by 23 volunteers from Taradale and Greenmeadows Rotary Clubs and their friends. Yes, there were chores to do, however, there was plenty of time for swimming, kayaking, fellowship, laughter and fun.
See the photo with the list of chores completed. Thanks also go to the Camp managers - Grace and Maddy for their work in keeping the place looking great.
Camp Kaitawa is looking s**c and span and awaits many schools, and outdoor groups for the coming year. It is also a great place for a weekend away, a family reunion, and a group of friends - just gathering.

Lake Wherowhero.... soooo much fun.
Have you been there?
Who has been to the top of Panekire?
Photo of the old swimming jetty - taken 2008.
Has David Drake spotted a monster in the Lake, or just pointing to some firewood for Alan McGill to collect?
Sometimes the sky around Kaitawa can be intimidating......
In 2021 - a new group were there for the week of maintenance.
The Camp is all spruced up and looking great.
Whilst tings are a little quiet during the winter months, school bookings are already full for the spring and summer.

Each year members of the Camp Kaitawa Trust and Rotary members and their families go to the Camp and complete all the maintenance jobs that need attending to.
Repairing, improving, painting.. and they go fishing, too :)
It's quite an occasion.
Book in for a long weekend or School holidays. Cheap, comfortable, wonderful location and views, with dozens of activities within walking or short driving. Beat me to catch a trout down below in the Kaitawa power station tail race and lake.
Just wow...
A great place to experience the snow.
Has anyone been to the Camp when it has snowed like this?
Congratulations to Graeme Muir - awarded Rotary's highest recognition - a Paul Harris Fellowship.
As Camp Kaitawa Trust Chairman, Graeme was yesterday awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship for his outstanding contribution to the management of Camp Kaitawa.
Photos shows Graeme proudly wearing his Paul Harris medallion along with Trust members - Bob Morrison, Brian Peploe, Ross Pinkham, Ken Hunt and Brian Hall.

More of the Confidence Course soon after it was built.
At one stage the Camp had no vegetation on the Confidence Course.
Who can remember those days?
