Word is you think, "It's too complicated and expensive." or "I keep buying gear and have found lots of how-to videos... I'll do it soon..." or "I'm saving several thousand to book a pro studio session."

Stop mic blocking yourself!
Start recording now, at home, with what you have - set a goal of recording one track a week. Yeah, it'll sound rough at first, but you will get better. It's like cooking - You'll get to know what works and what doesn't, you'll develop your tastes and timings, and you'll be getting better results in no time.

Some people think every recording needs to be a masterpiece - Nope.
Be it music, podcasts, or any other audio recording, focus on what you are capturing, not the gear and process. Performing to a microphone and computer takes some getting used to, so get amongst it and start making some memorable mistakes!
I listen back through my old recordings all the time (just like looking through my photo albums). Some were professionally done; the rest were captured spontaneously.
The heart is in the rough and full of life moments captured spontaneously by me and my mates using whatever was available at the time. The handful of staged and heavily processed stuff professionals did are great, but alone they don't tell the whole story.
(Just now, while writing this, a song I recorded appeared in a playlist between Tchaikovsky and Meshuggah - It was recorded in my Haitaitai flat back in 2001 - What a great time that was. Miss those guys)

Other mic blocking excuses:

Too expensive
Not really - I've used a Boom box, a karaoke mic, a super old computer, and free software to record loads of songs. Pulling a good recording set up together can easily cost less than a new guitar, amp or piece of furniture. I have recording bundles available on my site. I can alternatively create a custom bundle for you, taking into account any gear you already have and your budget. Once you get going, you'll be able to record every idea you have, there is no need to book the big studio until you get that huge recording contract…

Too hard or don't know how
If you like listening to recordings and have practised your performance, you likely know more than you realise; you just need to fill in the blanks. I can help with that. I have coached Kiwis across NZ to record their unique sounds in many unique environments. Complete beginners to ex-live sound techs to complete technophobes in their 80s - I've helped many get set up and record confidently on their own. I can help you.
