Rāwe Tamaiti, Ngāi Tupango is beyond proud!
When the power goes off for the day and it wasn't expected and you need to feed the people the fire does its job like it used too until the backup generators arrived. Great job kitchen crew a beautiful kai still made it on time to the tables.
And it poured down but not to worry, the team were expecting it and had it covered to do any touch ups. All done and dusted, safe travels home whanau!
Day 5 Working Bee: We're away whanau!
Day 4 Working Bee: saying goodbyes to whanau being the hardest thing to do as many hit the road home today. Our builders staying to the very last minute for them finishing the new shelves and storage areas. A time to reflect and rest the tired waewae's after tidying up. Boys waterblasting and cleaning. Cement pour early apopo weather permitting for our atua. Safe travels home whanau, let's lock this mahi in again next Easter!
Day 3 Working Bee: its been a long day whanau but we achieved allot in between heavy downpours as expected. We've cleared many items off our 'to do' list and it just keeps getting better. From filling huge holes to building new shelving and over hangs, it's getting done. Final touches apopo, hoping that the weather holds out for us.
Day 2 of the working bee, what a glorious day. Whanau turned out ready to go, tools and gear in hands. Ticking off the checklist nicely whanau. Garden crew on point, amazing mahi clearing along the creekline, trimming trees, thinning out gardens. Waterblasting giving our whare a face-lift, cleared guttering and fixing any leakage on the roof of the whare Kai, awesome painting to touchup after a good clean. Area cleared by the ladies toilets, floor boards fixed and secured in the whare kai by the ranchslider. Kitchen crew doing the mahi to make sure everyone is well fueled to get through the day. Boxing and ground maintenance heading towards final prep for cement pour for our Atua. This is a fantastic team effort and we are blessed to have so many talented and willing whanau to offer there time up for the long weekend. We do this for you all whanau knowing many of you can't be here but we know your wairua is with us this weekend.
Day 1 of the working bee is done and dusted. Gardening, pathway boxing, waterblasting, stocktaking and kitchen crews all giving it their all on a day of on and off showers. Sleep well tonight whanau, a new day apopo!

Just a heads up, the weather is not looking good at this stage but we are continuing on, please make sure to pack your wet weather gear and lets hope we can achieve most of the mahi planned. Kua hinga he totara i te wao nui a Tāne
The mighty Tōtara of our whānau has fallen. 💕🕊️
It is with heavy and broken hearts that we share that our beloved Mother, Sister, Grandmother and Great Grandmother Iwa Violet Alker (née More) has finally made her heavenly haerenga, 22 years to the day, into the arms of her darling Malcolm John Alker snr.
She passed exactly like the Queen she is, peacefully and surrounded by her family at 7:40 this morning in Kerikeri. 🕊️🕊️💕💕
She will make her way to Squires in Kaikohe late this afternoon and back to Te Ngaere apōpō.
At the moment:
Rā nehu: Saturday 28th at Te Ngaere. Church at 10am.
We are devastated, but joyous that she gets to see and hold her darling again. 💕💕
Moe mai rā e tā mātou whaea. Moe mai ra i te awhi aroha o tō tau aroha. Moe mai ra, moe mai ra, moe mai ra.
REMINDER SGM HUI THIS WEEKEND WHANAU - Kia ora all shareholders of Te Ngaitupango (Te Ngaere) Marae.
The Trustees have called a Special General Meeting as per details below to ensure it can continue to do mahi on your behalf in 2023. We were unable to hold the AGM last month due to insufficient numbers to proceed.
We are trying social media and emailing as a form of communication this time around in the hope that you can forward onto whanau so we can get things rolling with several projects on the back burner waiting for Trustee nominations at the SGM.
Please bear in mind whanau, if you are considering becoming a Trustee that you must be prepared to travel to the marae meetings every 3 months and access for zoom meetings called inbetween these dates if required.
You will have full support from those already in roles as Trustees. Be safe these holidays. Nga mihi, Trustees.
Kia ora whanau,
We have had a request from the whanau to not take vehicles over to the wairere. We have lots of whanau and kids around staying by the rere and vehicles end up adding another level of injury risk. If u can please let your whanau all know NO Vehicles to cross over to the wairere. Nga mihi, Trustees.
Thank you whanau for your comments, take 2: for those that need the Te Ngaitupango Marae bank account number to deposit Koha, please contact Hine Davis by private message who does the bookings. Nga mihi, Lois
Kia ora whanau,
If you are using the Marae please do not flush wet wipes down the toilets as they are blocking the pipes and causing major problems to the system.
There are bins provided for your use in the wahine toilets or use a rubbish bag.
Nga mihi whanau
Kia ora whanau, a heads up that Williams Civil & Contracting Ltd will be working on the valley road cleaning out and replacing old damaged culverts and adding new ones where needed in preparation for winter. Apologies in advance for any inconvenience. The road can't be crossed when digging and laying each culvert for about an hour so the road will be out of use on and off until around 4pm for the next few days. They will try to keep the road free as much as possible whanau but be kind and patient as they do this much needed maintenance. Nga mihi, Lois
