Why is mens health so important?
Men are on the back foot from the start. A boy born today will live nearly four years less than a girl born in the room next door. He will be over 20% more likely to die of a heart attack than the girl, and almost 30% more likely to get diabetes.
Worse, he is three times more likely to die by su***de or in a motor car crash.
8 Kiwi families every day lose a loved partner, father or tupuna to a PREVENTABLE illness, one they didn’t need to die from.

What did you get up to this King’s Birthday weekend?
The Mico Design team had some much deserved R&R, after a record breaking year!
From baking and “braaing”. To jigsaw puzzles and art projects.
And getting in touch with our cultural heritage @ Marae Kaenga O Matakaoa, Te Araroa, East Cape!

Mico Design have been fortunate to work with Wingates and now Marra Construction on the new Science and Technology block at Te Wharekura o Mauao. A great example of local collaboration in the Bay of Plenty resulting in some exciting new facilities!

Progress is looking promising, Marra Construction we can't wait to see the finished product!

Mico Design assisted MON Developments with specifying the sanitaryware products for the brand new Nevada Company in Rolleston. This is a custom built commercial office, warehouse and showroom, which has been beautifully designed and built. Earlier this month Mico Design had the privilege of assisting one of our reliable suppliers – Dolphin Solutions – with the installation of a working ‘Dolphin Mirror System’ display unit at Fletcher Construction’s office in Auckland CBD, ahead of these being installed into the NZ Convention Centre project.
There are 14x of these unique & innovative custom units getting installed across this build and Nick Gill from the team was on site to see just how easy these units are to install.
“As you will see from the photos, It was amazing how simple the install was and super quick! We had the unit on the wall and fully functional within 2 hours. The Dolphin Mirror System contains everything you need internally within the unit (Water Outlet, Soap, Hand Dryer & Paper Towel Dispenser) to make your washing experience easy & hygienic” Nick says.

Did everyone enjoy the Easter break?

Thought we would share some pics from our Mico Design team members and see what they got up to over the long weekend around New Zealand.

We had a family attend the CS Easter Camp in Taranaki, Easter Egg hunts, Highlight festival, Camped in Kaikoura, watched the Warriors game, indulged in yummy food and ate one too many chocolates!

Exciting to see the progress of the Ōtautahi Orthoepedics building. We assisted Gaze Commercial with creating the sanitaryware schedule and Hunter Plumbing are going to bring it all to life!

Recently our Mico Design Aged Care Rep Ari Kloeten visited the Summerset team onsite at the new Summerset Boulcott village in Lower Hutt. Construction is underway on multiple villas and apartment blocks also. The Summerset Boulcott site is a unique shape and Summerset has managed to make the most of its great location. He was impressed at the amazing views that the residents will be able to enjoy once they move in.

The retirement/aged care sector continues to evolve and adapt to the changing market, creating more selection. Summerset Boulcott is another village that is lifting the standard of the industry by improving its offering. Mico Design works extensively in the retirement/aged care sector and is always seeking for way to assist in its evolution.

Last week the Mico Design Team had the privilege of attending our 2024 Mico Conference at Due Drop Events Centre in Manukau Auckland which was headlined this year as ‘At Our Best’.
Under Morgan McCann’s lead, we covered off many different exercises over the 3 days including Strategy Workshops, an AMAZING trade hall exhibition full of our legendary suppliers and some keynote speakers who filled us all with inspiration!
Nick Gill says “It was fantastic to have the Mico Design Team together to share the experience of a new era for Mico and strategize our plans for the near future. A special shout out to our very own Ari Kloeten (Mico Design Aged Care Rep) who was one of the finalists for Account Manager of the year”.

Why celebrate? Plumbing is a major part of our everyday routine such as having a shower, getting a glass of water from a tap and flushing the toilet. All of these tasks are possible thanks to trained plumbers and advances in plumbing. Here at Mico Design we are proud to support the importance of plumbing and the wider plumbing community!

Plumbing fact: Only 4 of 10 people in the world have toilets in their homes.

Did you know that Mico’s Adesso Urban II Short Projection back to wall toilet now have a cistern lid locking system available? Our Urban II toilet suite is timeless yet contemporary European style that offers perfect blend of modern uncomplicated features including hygienic rimless pan with short projection. The locking system prevent users to lift the cistern lid and vandalize the internal parts or store/hide goods. This is a good option for public areas and Schools where they are experiencing vandalism in the bathrooms.
