With great pleasure, I would like to introduce Āhua Design established in Wānaka Aotearoa, New Zealand, 2022.

Prompted by the uncertain times brought about by a global pandemic and our collective need to stay home, the desire to create an environment that emulated a sense of well-being, beauty and authenticity became the motivation behind the design of the Pelage Chair.

In essence, it is a possum fur beanbag nestled into a Scandinavian-inspired steel frame.

It is both a soft sculptural form and functional art that makes a bold yet elegant statement unique to the world of interior design.

The Pelage Chair is made with luxurious natural possum fur that cocoons your body to evoke a sense of well-being and calm and where luxury is experienced as both an aesthetic and physical pleasure.

The Pelage Chair is form that evolves with you.

Due to New Zealand’s conservation efforts to protect our flora and fauna, Possum is globally recognised as ‘green fur’. As such, Āhua Design is proud to play its part in protecting our unique natural environment in Aotearoa, NZ.
