Unfortunately the covid wave has been rising in the Waihi/beach/Katikati areas over the past few weeks and we are seeing the impact of this on our workload and staffing. Ultimately this means we will be critically short of GPs and Nurses over the next 7-10 days, which historically is one of our busiest times of the year in the lead up to Christmas even without all the covid workload. We are doing our best to continue services where we can, but appointments will need to be moved, and we will have minimal capacity to offer any same day or urgent appointments. Please do not be offended if we suggest you seek assessment at an accident & medical centre or ED for serious issues. Prescriptions will take 3 working days - PLEASE know that our practice remains open in normal working days across the holidays so please do not order your script early for next year unless you really need it. PLEASE remember to RAT test if you are unwell, upload your result if it is positive (so that we know to offer you antivirals if you are eligible) and do not be complacent about covid - stay home if you are unwell, DO be honest if you have cold symptoms and DO NOT enter our practice even if ‘it’s not Covid’ - as our team is still vulnerable to needing time off even for non covid illnesses.
