Yes I know this isn't an icon Wanaka scene but it gives you an idea of some of the techniques you can learn 😉

Charcoal is such an amazing medium. It is so responsive to many different ways of applying it, the surfaces and textures that you can create are wild.
Art Intro students will be getting introduced (or reintroduced) to charcoal in next terms night class. Drawing with it is a wonderful way to explore tonal variation and practice new ways of viewing.

Watercolours lend themselves to botanical illustrations beautifully. We will be doing a lesson on botanical illustrations in the Art Intro night class starting next term.
If you want to learn basic drawing and painting techniques or reignite those rusty skills, then this is the class for you 🎨

Botanical watercolour studies are usually pretty popular and something that we will include in our adult classes. Here is a Kawakawa illustration in progress featuring lots of different layered washes of green to create richness and depth to the different hues.

Playing with ideas for Artrageous which starts next term!
Artrageous is aimed at young folk 7 years and up. We will have a heap of fun trying out new ideas and learning new skills, with a variety of different media. It is a class which can cater to a broad range of abilities.
Classes start Wed 19th October 😁

As an adult if you were to do an art class what would YOU like to learn?

1) A class that is an intro to both drawing and painting

2) A class that focuses more on drawing, what it can be and developing realistic drawing skills.

3) A class that focuses more on paint, exploring different styles and techniques using watercolour and acrylic painting.

I was lucky enough to hold a landscape painting workshop for a lovely bunch of friends. They would yearly meet somewhere amazing and do an art class there. We explored the paint techniques of two completely different artist models, Stanley Palmer and Georgina Hoby Scutt. The skill level was diverse but everyone produced some great work and much fun was had 😊

Last week I had a delightful time doing a floral watercolour workship with some of the Kahu Youth Trust girls last week. They created some lovely floral studies and had a lot of fun with paint, learning some new techniques 😊
