Children’s Picture Book My name is Sarah Macintosh-Tawhiri and I am the author of a children's book called 'Journey to Waitangi'.

I have worked alongside Lesh McNicholl, who has illustrated the story. This book came about when my family and I had a camping holiday in Northland. We planned to spend a day at the Waitangi Treaty Grounds but we were so moved by our experience there, we ended up spending 2 days. My daughter, Brianna, felt so connected to her Māori culture and learnt so much about the events surrounding the signin

A kiwi family journeys to the Bay of islands for a summer camping holiday. Once at the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, their daughter in particular really connects with her Māori heritage, learns alot about New Zealand's history, Māori culture and the events surrounding the signing of the treaty.

A really engaging book aimed at primary aged children with its bright illustrations that really draw children in and invite them to find out more about this vital topic.

Sarah has been a primary school teacher for over 20 years and has struggled to find age appropriate material to read to her classes.
So she did something about that and wrote it herself!

She teamed up with local Wellington nature inspired illustrator Lesh Creates and together they collaborated over the lockdowns to bring you this unique resource.
