Embark on a journey through the stories of exceptional Polish women showcased in the exhibition, 'Outstanding Polish Women' in collaboration with the @Polish Embassy in Wellington. 🇵🇱🎥 ✊Anna Walentynowicz always bravely stood up against various injustices and violations of labour rights. This made her an object of persecution by the communist Security Service – detentions, revisions, threats, internment, imprisonment. 🎨Olga Boznańska was a painter of silence. She created mostly portraits that reflect not only physical features of the model but also their soul. It was said of her that she didn’t paint the eyes but expressions, not lips but a smile. The exhibition continues until November 24, with free admission during our regular opening hours.

Dive into the narratives of extraordinary Polish women in the exhibition, 'Outstanding Polish Women' in collaboration with the Polish Embassy in Wellington. 🇵🇱🎥 Maria Skłodowska-Curie was a physicist and chemist, radioactivity ☢️ researcher and discoverer of two new elements: polonium and radium. She was the first and only woman in the 🌍 , and the only scientist, to receive the #NobelPrize in two different scientific fields: physics and chemistry. Her discoveries were significant breakthroughs in science and medicine, especially in the fight against cancer. 💪👩 👉The exhibition runs until November 24.

🏳️‍🌈📚Pride Month in June is all about queer life, remembering the political origins of the movement and, last but not least, celebrating one's own identity. We have put together a few recommendations that can be borrowed from the Onleihe in June (and other months). As always, you can find these and many other great books and audio books in our digital library Onleihe - free of charge, around the clock 🕰️ Kim de L'Horizon's ‘Blutbuch’ explores a family's non-traditional female bloodline from a non-binary narrative perspective, Linus Giese tells of the euphoria and hurdles he experienced and still experiences as a trans man, and Hengameh Yaghoobifarah's protagonist finds herself caught between an elective and coercive family, heritage, being queer and a child that is not hers. 📲 New to the Onleihe?
