Isami Tatsuno established Montbell in Osaka, Japan in 1975 with a goal to create quality outdoor equipment, meant for adventure. Inspired by a gardening pad in the early 70s, two Boeing engineers and avid backpackers invented a line of self-inflating camping mattresses for a warmer, more comfortable sleep on adventures. Fast forward 50 years, Therm-a-Rest released the NeoAir insulated air pad - the greatest innovation in outdoor sleep.
